...and getting a little frustrated. Just got in eight "SAR .223 mags" from InterOrdinance and they don't fit. The width of the front of the mags are about .835" where the three I have that work measure .735".

Is there a difference in .223 Norinco mags from others, such as the SAR3?

In most other respects they measure about the same. I would be tempted to mill or grind the sides down but .100" from the spot welded-on sheet metal probably won't fly...not much left.

Ideas? Help?

You will need Norinco mags they do things differently in China!(others may be modifiable, and people use modified bakelites too), they are not real common but not that difficult to find. A few months ago they seemed to be everywhere for $15 to 25 dollars each for 30s and you may need to poke around a bit to find some at fair prices. Check all the auction boards, also you might want to ask Recon if he still has any he wants to sell.

Goodluck!

Florgy tried to get a Wieger mag to fit a Norinco with no luck. D&Ts is lucky enough to have a Norinco that takes waffle mags. I have never even been able to get a waffle to lock in. I think that you could have some luck with a waffle and a little tinkering (at least they have been cheap lately). Owning a 223 AK requires a little tinkering.
