I'm looking for mags for the SAR-3, I prefer black polymer since the rifle will have all black furniture. Who has them? K-Var and Progressive both are sold out of the bulgarian polymers. I also saw Classic arms listing 5.45 AK74 mags for a good price and they said "can be modified for .223". What is involved in that and are they reliable mags for .223? Thanks for the help

I think www.cdnninvestments.com (http://www.cdnninvestments.com) was supposed to get some in but dont think they have materialized yet, those things are such a hot item lately I would bet dollars to donuts someone is holding back big time!

Thanks Jimbob, I called CDNN this morning, they said call back next week, they should have them. Is that just a line, or will they really be in, I don't know. I will try again later. I tried to order some other stuff too, but they didn't want my money, kept saying call back next week when the mags are in and you will save on shipping rather than placing two orders.

I was only planning on getting 3-4 .223 Bulgie mags, but if they are this hard to come by I may just go nuts and get a dozen.

A real alternative is to convert EG bakelites or Bulgarian 5.45 poly magazines to 30 round capacity using the Robarms Vepr II .223 followers. I have modified two EG bakelite magazines with Vepr followers and throughly function tested in a SAR 3 with 30 rounds without a single malfunction. No modifications to the Century .223 bakelites are required other than replacement of the follower . 5.45 bakelites are easily converted to .223 configuration with a dremel tool. See photo below. There is no reason why the 5.45 Bulgarian poly magazines could not be modified in the same manner. I installed the Vepr follower in a Bul poly and it fits fine.
Basis my testing, these modified magazines are on a par with the Weiger magazines and superior to the tempermantal Progressive Bulgarian waffle magazines which often required modifications for reliable functioning.
It is questional if the $12 CDNN poly 5.56 waffle magazines will ever be available from them. A salesman told me today that they suspect their supplier sold to a higher bidder and will default on delivery.
The followers cost $5.99 plus shipping. http://www.robarm.com/consumer_sales.htm

Hey, Fuzi..... I have 8 brand new SAR-3 223 metal mags that I got a couple of weeks ago for my Norinco. If you didn't catch that, whooooooooops - the Euro mags don't fit the ChiCom .223s.

Got them from InterOrdinance but decided to hold on to them anyway. I paid $79 for each pack of four including bag.

Want a deal? $79 less their 20% restocking fee is, let's see......$63 for four or $120 for all eight? You pay shipping.

Click on email above if you're interested. Better the discount to someone here than 20% restocking for NOTHING!

The $79 you paid included shipping. He would be paying almost the regular price of $69 + shipping. I would be interested if the price was $69 - 20% restocking fee = $55.20 + shipping.

ataDude,
Are your SAR-3 .223 mags still available?
If so, I'll take four (4) at $63 plus shipping.

I think it's amazing that someone else THINKS they know better than me what I paid (shipping specifically)

I think I'll hold onto them now as an "investment". :o

I went ahead and ordered from InterOrdanance http://www.interordnance.com/
