Have one and love it. My personal favorite AK. I havent installed US parts and have no intentions of doing such. The gun works great and I hate to molest it.

Note to any PA residents who are looking for a US parts kit SLR there was one at the York PA gunshow today for $550. Nice looking gun. Best of luck everybody.

What a smooth trigger! Does anyone else have a problem with the handguard getting extremely hot after 100 or so rounds?

Has anyone added a bipod? I am looking into the Harris Bipod LSM and using the No. 5 Stud - Fits Colt AR-15/M16 without alteration. Would that work? Any suggestions, besides not adding a bipod?

I would also like to add a scope (PSO?) , has anyone added the siderail mount? Is it hard or easy to do?

dixieman for your bipod instead of modifying the weapon for the bipod mount have you thought about using a US issue M16 bipod? They clamp on the barrel and to install/remove them just squeeze the legs together. I have one I use and I put adhesive backed felt in the part that goes around the barrel so it doesn't scratch the barrel. I use it on most of my rifles. Very universal.

Count me in........Mine is currently in its original Bunghole stock form. I am looking for floorplates & followers so that I can add a K-Var US stock set. This thing just plain ROCKS when using the "bump method" for firing.

used to have one, and do miss 'er dearly.....it was definately my favorite. One of the few AKs that actually looks great with a thumbole, only others are SA93 and SA85M imo. No reason to change these to a preban-type set up.

i just (personally) can't justify spending the considerable sum to modify an already adequate postban thumbhole. There aren't many AKs that can successfully pull off the t-hole look, but the SLR definately can IMO. I think the rifle looks better and meaner in its original imported config anyway. But hey, as they say, each his own, eh!!!

I have to go with Col. K on this one though I dont care for the thumbhole much I have a very nearly sub MOA AK (i.e OOTB AR humiliator) and hate to change anything period I have other guns to carry on the "military configuration" heritage. Good luck, like many of you I absolutely love this gun!

i can't complain, valmet. That is a beautiful looker....i'm sure i would snatch it up if i saw it somewhere for the right price, but i still couldn't modify a SLR for some reason. Feels, shoots, and looks too damn good already.

I shouldn't pop off anyway, as i sold mine about a year ago for a price that 'i couldn't refuse.' Would love to get my hands on another specimen one day......definately worth the money imo. http://www.ak47forums.com/biggrin.gif

If I found another one I thought was a good bargain ~$400 I would probably buy it and modify (maul) it as you cant beat the barrel and reciever. However the one I have as mentioned earlier is just unbelievable for an AK so why mess with a good thing. Still they do look gorgeous in black polymer US parts!

New here,

Just traded Glock-30 LNIB for 95%? SLR-95 came with Galti soft case, four loaded steel 30rd mags cleaning kit, sling and the MANUAL! Those can not be found anywhere!! I may send it to Global for a tune-up.I can always buy another Glock, but I'm never selling that Bulgarian.

good move. There will be enuf glovks to go around for a while, but you can't say that with the all-bulgarian AKs.

I have one also. Original configuration, though. I would like to go with the k-varstocks in the future though. And a good muzzle brake. Any suggestions on a good muzzle brake. I bought one on the net (eBay) but the hole where the set screws are is EXTREMELY too big to fit the muzzle. I don't know what the guy was thinking when he sold it as fitting an AK. It will fit the end of my .303 MK4 No. 2, though. HMMMMM....might mount it on there......

Seen this and just had to get registered and post. I have one SLR 95mb and am really impressed. I mounted a Kobra sight on it and shot 1/2 inch groups at a 100 yards this fall at the range on a bench rest. Not bad for a gun with a reputation for not being the most accurate. It's all stock except for the sight and I was shooting Russian ammo.

Just got a nib slr95. Plan to ditch the t-hole asap. Like the way it shoots. Like my sa93 better though. Someone asked about muzzlebreaks. Global Trades has great breaks and will thread/install/spot weld the break too. Put an RPK break on the sa93. Seems to work better than the break that came on the slr95 imo.
