I'm thinking of adding a US-made AK-74 brake to my SAR-2s to keep it legal and because I don't want to go through the whole hassle of replacing the front sight assembly. Has anyone used one of the US-made brakes on their SAR-2? If so, which one did you use? How do you like the results? TIA...

The problem here is, there are no brakes built for the diameter of the SAR2 bbl. It is thinner than the other bbls. The 14x1 lh will not fit comfortably. Not enought meat to hold firm.

Now that I think about it, if you use an adaptor for the 24mm 74 brakes (Rom is 22mm, no US made ones available) and get the 1/2x28? AR15 threading die and you might make it work. The AR15 die is much narrower in dia than the 14x1 l/h commmie die. Just might work. I have an adaptor for the 24mm thread 1/2x28. Let me know what you want to do. I can send it to you, I'm not going to use it.

Wes at Soupbowl has both the US made brake and adaptor available. He is a great help.

Keep us up on what your going to do. I'm sure many would rather not replace the sight.
