I have a sar3 and have had none of the problems that i have read about. But i have a feeling it was just luck.I was able to pick from five sar3 still in the box, and of course i piked the best looking one. My gun has a low number 6xx-2000 maybe when it was built has a bearing on the qulity.

Good to hear you got a good one.
That is a low number. I have seen them as high as S304000 2000. The biggest problem with this rifle is that the hammer is required to rotate farther then normal. This requires that the hammer be machined so that it hits flat on the firing pin at a different angle. If it is done incorrectly it leads to failure to fire.
Tip:
When talking about the serial # of you personal weapon you should X out the last two too three didgets. Some one could report you weapon stolen and cause you problems. Long shot but be safe. You might go back and edit it to read something like S3006XX 2000.

Ekie,
Is that the reason that we leave off some of the numbers from serial numbers when we post? I have always wondered. To play the devil's advocate, what kind of problem could that cause R and R seeing as it is not stolen but is his gun? I mean, someone could report it stolen but records would show that it never was registerd to that person, but to R and R all along!
Just curious!

I have never heard of it happening. If it did I am sure it could be cleared up through an ATF trace on the gun. The whole thing would be a major headache.

I will grant you that what ever we can do to avoid a pain in the can is well worth it!
