Here is a photo of my Colt 6920 and assorted doodads and hoohaas I keep in the bag for "emergencies". Thought some of you might be interested in the particulars. Before anyone runs their mouth about AK this or SKS that or M14 blah, blah, blah, I have all of those guns (except SKS) and then some and they have similar set-ups. I have also used AR type rifles all over the world from desert to jungle and I have no complaints. Also, I have tons of ammo and mags, this is just sort of a grab all and go bag.
In no particular order, the rifle has a GG&G MAD BUIS, EOTECH optic, Knights RAS, surefire with on/off button. I still have pressure pads but they are not as durable. I also have a GG&G sling attachment point with the Dieter CQC sling. I have found the single points work well with or without vests and armor. I also have a Tango Down pistol grip with extra batteries and the VLTOR stock has batteries as well. I place small pieces of cardboard between batteries to act as spacers. Of course I still have the carrying handle but it is in a parts box. Hiding behind the eotech is the neoprene scope coat to help insulate it from being banged around.
Speaking of parts, one of the cleaning kits contains a lower and bolt rebuild kit from bushmaster. I still need to add a couple of the correct colt size pins but the rest of the items should work. If anyone knows this to NOT be the case, let me know so I can take corrective action. There is also a set of punches, sight adjustment tool and correct allen wrenches for the grips, optic, etc. I put a full cleaning kit to include mil-tech, rem-oil, boresnake, various patches, brushes, etc. For basic tools, I included needle nose pliers and a screwdriver. There is a small bottle of loctite for the attachments.
I threw in another pack of Lithium AA batteries that should be good to 2022. The BUIS, handguards and other carry handle means I am not too worried about the batteries in the long term and as things may not be available, I will pull of unnecessary items to lighten the load. While the forward grip is nice, I am well versed in using the front of the mag well as a gripping point so I would possible ditch that to save weight if I could no longer find/afford surefire batteries.
The bag and mag pouch are from Eagle industries and are the best rifle bags I have seen. You can see the assorted internal storage and there is a large, full length compartment on the outside. Also, there is a removeable shoulder strap to go along with the regular carry handles.
The mag pouch is somewhat unique and I haven't seen too many like it. It is double sided so it holds six 30 round mags. I add an additional strap so that you can wear over the neck or shoulder and also strap in around your torso to help limit bouncing and rattling of mags...and soft bellies.
All seven mags are filled with 28 rounds of M885. These mags do not have pull tabs on them for some reason but I will fix that in the near future. I keep the bag fully loaded in a closet and the rifle in the gun safe.
Anything I am missing...other than the kitchen sink...let me know...especially on the pins question.
