I bought a PSO-1T 4X24 scope at the gun show this past Sunday..took it home..mounted it on my SAR-2. My question is..Do you have to dislocate your cervical spine or something to use the thing. I have the factory stocks with a 1in recoil pad to add some length and I still cannot seat the butt properly in my shoulder and see thru the scope! In order to see properly thru it I have to raise the riflr butt to a point where it isn't even seated in my shoulder anymore. Whats the dang deal?

I know exactly what you mean. Even with the longer K-Var Poly stock it still seems awkward. I ended up attaching a 1 inch butt-pad with sheet metal screws to the butt-plate on my K-var stock. Then I purchased a black cordura nylon cheek-pad from "Blackhawk Technologies" to get a good cheek-weld while using the scope. Now I can seat the butt of the rifle in my shoulder and get decent eye relief.
Even so....You'd think they'd make the damn scope mount for the 4x24 so it sits further forward.

You have discovered the big myth about the PSO, started no doubt or at least encouraged by US gun vendors who have unloaded thousands of PSO's using the "used on the AK" sales pitch.
Having said that, there are many who use them and like them on their AK rifles, and I would never arttempt to discourage them from doing so, as I sell many versions of the PSO myself.
In actuality, the PSO was never designed and was seldom used with any AK rifles. it is a sniper sight for the SVD. Even the Russian side plates used on all current production AK rifles issued to Russian armed forces, will not accept the Russian military issue PSO scopes. And as you have stated, even if they will go on, they are horendous in the ergonomics department, unless you like bending backwards when you fire your rifle. Not a good stance for the AK, which was designed for a forward stance, with crouched position type handling.
Of course Belerussian and Russian exporters wouldnt argue about this point, either, and no doubt they enjoy the extra income it generates.
Go to www.Cruffler.com (http://www.Cruffler.com) and check out there review on the PSO-1. Kalashnikov USA is making a mounting bracket to replace the stock PSO-1 bracket. It allows for proper eye relief when mounted on AK platforms.

mk......thanks for the link to the PSO-1 article at Cruffler.com. The Krebs Custom mounting plate seems to be a great solution to the problem. I didn't notice any mention of the custom mounting plate at Krebs website. I sent an e-mail requesting information on pricing and availability.

I also have left a message at Kreb's for availability of the mount adaptor. No reply in 24 hrs......I made the mod mentioned on Tantal's site " Afghan mod" , but it only gained under an inch more forward. The Kreb's adapror looks to gain about 3"
