I'm looking for input in regards to the best scope mount for installing a conventional (American brand) 3x9x40 scope on a SAR2. Will a 40mm fit with the russian side rail mount? Also, can I get 1" scope rings, or something compatable in metric?
Thanks!

I REALLY like the MTK75 mounts that Tantal sels - they give very good eye relief.

For a scope? a 40 will work - but I would urge you to consider a 3x9x32 (Bushnel makes a good one). That size Bell with the above mount will allow you to see your iron sights.

Thanks Trotsky. Does that MTK75 have 1" rings? I presume so, if you're using a Bushnell with it. I appreciate the advice about the 32mm, but I have a Redfield tracker in matt finish 3x9x40 that I was planning to use on there. It would be nice to see the iron sights though. I agree about the Bushnell stuff, I think they are a good scope for the $. The next question of course is, where can I get a MTK75, and for how much$?

I HAVE a Valdada - it's on my SAR3. Get the MTK75. The Valdada is really intended for a Draganov. I had to perform an Afghan modification on mine.

It's also $90 :)
