Looking for some information on this sight system. I'm assuming it was designed for sniper type rifles and not the AK-47 rifles. Has anyone tried using this on a AK-47 or AK-74 type rifle? I saw a photo of one mounted on a AK-74 variant. Anyone have an idea what the ergonomics are like with this sight system?

I have one - mounted on a SAR 2.
Ergonomics are fine - much better than a PSO. The MOUNT will work on an AK, not just an SVD - it comes with a removable "stop screw" that can be relocated to the rear.
In practice, this will ONLY word with a SAR mount, due to the "divits" in the metal. It won't work with an MTK-75 side plate. In addition, when the screw is "rear mounted", it's best to replace the shipped screw with a metric socket head screw - more meat.
I love mine - best Soviet optic I own.

Thanks for the info Trotsky. I may get one for my SAR-2. Centerfire Systems has them listed for $199.00. The mount they show has to bars/brackets which angle at about 30 degrees back toward the stock. It looks like the rear eye-piece is kinda far back for comfort. I'm guessing the K-Var Poly stock might help some with eye relief.

That's the one - and that's where to get it :) Looks like this:

Those angles look worse than they are in practice. Mine sits on "Red October" (below) and works well with a 1 inch butpad extension...
You will LOVE the way these work...

Very nice.... I might go with a slightly darker version, like the one pictured below.

Polyack... isn't that scope pretty far back? I've got three rifles with MTK75 side plates - being solid (no "divits"), the rear stop of the scope sits WAY in the back part of the rail. On a SAR, the rear stop can move into that divit, putting the clamp dead center on the rail.... probably good for about an inch of eye relief.
I like that black dot - battery goes dead, scope works... only need the "red dot" under low light conditions.

Trotsky, I have a PKS-07 mounted on my Polytech right now that has the MTK-75 rail on it. It mounts just fine to it. I bought the sight for my SAR2 but it is with Informer right now, so I haven't been able to see how it mounts differently to the Rommy rail.
My only real complaint with the scope is the major offset, it is a little awkward, for me anyway. Also, this scope is not a "true" red dot type sight. It is more a scope with an illuminated reticle. The reticle is a large oval with a black dot in the middle for aiming. You can turn the switch on and the dot turns bright red, illuminated, but the reticle is fixed in place.

Trotsky, actually I took the stop screw and put it in the front position. This way I mount the PKS by sliding it on the MTK rail from the front instead of the rear. This gives me better eye relief, because like you mentioned, mounting from the rear on the MTK rail makes the sight sit too far back to be comfortable. Since I don't have my SAR2 right now, I can't really compare the two rails. I can see where the Romanian rail would be better suited though. http://www.landmarkjtp.homestead.com/files/AK_w_PKS.jpg

Agreed! That is a nice plus.
