Need some advice. I'm going to an Eotech type sight and have been browsing the net. I came across a few Eotech clones that look real good and have mostly good reviews. Some are better than others I hear. One of the ads states these are used by the Chinese military and others. Here is a link so you can check it out. This vendor also sells on Gun Broker.

I know this may be a complete waste of money but who knows, they could be decent. Any input or experience or info you may have on these clones would be very helpfully. I guess like anyone I'd rather spend $100 rather than $500+.

I ultimately would like the one with the same features even if I have to spend more to get something that isn't junk than so be it. The real things are rated for 33 ft submersion are impact / shock proof and have real NV. Not that this product doesn't but like said who knows.

Thanks for any imput.

DO NOT waste your money. Unless you're only using it inside your house in fairly dark conditions, they are pieces of shit.

Dude, the Chinese can't even make dog food, toothpaste, or baby formula that won't kill the end user.

Do you really trust them with precision optics?

I got an real EOTech 552, this past Xmas as my gift to myself, for less than $350 on a site most here dont like but is was a heck of a deal so I grabbed it.

I saw they were now sending these little Hard cases with the new EOTechs. So I looked on egay & saw one for $20. Almost bought it then decided to send EOTech or L3 Communications an email. Even though my EOTech 552 2 years old (rev F) they sent me a hard case for $6, yes just $6. IMO the case is worth more than that.

If you want en EOTech get the real thing. The others do not hold up to recoil & keep their zero like the real deal. You can find good deals on them if you look around.

Pic of the EOTech on my AR before many more mods.
This is a big pic to show the quality & a 2 year old EOTech that looks brand spankin new.

You got that right. OK I'm coming back to reality.

If the knock-off magnifiers are any clue to the electronic red dot sight then I'd say avoid them like the plague! Total crap on the magnifiers.

I've got two Eotech 512's and I am very satisfied with them. Being a true hologram projection sight is one of their main strengths vs. just a red led bounced off a reflective coating on the front lense like cheaper red dot sights are. If the window is partially blocked, say mud or snow but there is a small clear patch then when the dot is seen in that off set patch of clear window, you will be able to hit about where that dot is with very little to no parallax. In other words the sight is still useful. You can't do that on a cheap red dot.

These knockoffs are a simple red or green LED dot, and not a laser projected hologram like the true EOTech's use. If I were to buy a fake optic, it would at least have to project a similar dot. EOTechs are cutting edge technology...

I've got a fake Aimpoint on my Beretta CX4 that has worked wonderfully for 5 years. You gotta remember, a reputable company like SIG Sauer offers a Chin clone of an Aimpoint Micro T1 for their 556 - pretty interesting, but you get what you pay for...

If you want an EOtecish knock off sight look on ebay or gunbroker for the Bushnell holosight. I almost got one for my storm, I'm not a big holo sight fan tho, but there an actual known and good company instead of chans house of copies. By what iv heard of them there just as good as the EOs

You know it's funny about the knock-off's. I have a Eotech on my M11 SMG and it broke (internally, pieces loose) after about 300 rounds. EoTech had great CS and promptly replaced it but.... On the other hand, I have a BSA reddot on a .357 magnum and it's been working great for 10 years.

The difference is, the internals (submersible) and externals (metal hood) etc, are not ruggedized for military use.

Yep, this is truth as I know it.

got one of the knockoffs at a gunshow for my little cousins airsoft toy. too dim to be seen out of doors. it's a night time / indoor use only item, even as a toy.

Thanks for all of the advice. I ended up getting the real thing NIB, Eotech 551.A65 RevF with case.

I didn't want to screw around, some day I might actually need to rely on this thing to work under tough conditions. Any how this one takes the N batteries, is just over 4" long, is submersible to 33ft and is NV compatible. Total cost to my door $414.95.

I haven't had a chance to zero it in but it seems like a real nice piece of equipment. I had the A2 carry Handel on my POF M4A3. As soon as the Eotech showed up I stripped it off and installed my Magpul front and rear BUS and the Eotech real quick! What an upgrade!!!! :dancin

Now I know I have a complete weapon platform that I can truly count on. Thanks to all that replied with advice.

Photos to follow soon.
