do you check case length and trim to the minimum every time you reload?

Get a WILSON case gauge, you will love it.

If your shooting a bolt gun, just get a set of collet dies. The cases will fire form to your chamber. You won't have to full-length size the cases and there will be nothing to trim. I do this with my 7mm-08, my swede M38 and my pride and joy M1903A4 sniper rifle. It has a "Z" serial number. Very rare.

If you are going to reload for rifle you should realy get yourself a sinclair chamber length gage for about $5. It is a plug that you insert into a fired case and will allow you to measure the chamber LENGTH of YOUR gun. This is an absolute 'must know' before you do any reloading in which case length might end up longer than SAAMI spec.
You don't want that case mouth meeting up with the end of the chamber and causing nasty things to happen.
