Well, that's a $50 increase from their very first batch!

I'm already reaping in some equity from my NEW, UNISSUED, MINT, CHERRY, YUGO SKS THAT I PREORDERED FROM I/O WHEN THEY FIRST GOT THEM.

opps, cap lock.

BUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAHAHAAAAHA!
:p

They may have raised the price based on the poor quality of the lesser grades or to avoid competition with a distributor who is getting some of the Like New's.

Dear Fellow Members-These guns were going for over $1,000 about 6 mos. ago. This next batch is supposed to be nicer than the first nice batch. It is all a crap shoot,as everyone knows.I can tell you that many of the non IO guns have bore pitting, since the barrels are not chromed lined.I have been collecting, restoring, sighting in for myself and buddies,Milsurps since leaving the USN 8 years ago.I was simply stating what Uli told me,and do not appreciate the facetious comments-It's info for you to either accept or not.I have 4 SKS's ('52 Tula,Norinco Sporter,Norinco Carbine and '58 Cugir) and I can tell you that the Romanian SKS's do not come close in quality to the Russian,Yugoslav and Chinese. My '58 Cugir needed trigger work by The Machine Shop when they were still doing trigger jobs for people and the owner mentioned how Romanian SKS tolerances can be out by as much as .015.He also mentioned that the Russian and Chinese generally have tighter tolerances and my shooting of mine confirms this.Best I could do with S&B with my '58 Cugir was 4-6" groups, and this is a clean gun!Anyway, part of the reason for this forum is to disseminate info, and that's all that I was doing.Sincerely-Gearhead.

Somebody asked why they went up $50 bucks. Easy supply and demand my friends. The first batch sold way too fast. If they had set there for about 2 months and only 1/4 of the shippment had sold I bet a dollar to a doughnut hole that the price would have come down to $200! Now they're going up. Sit tight, let them sit in the warehouse for 2 months and the price WILL come down.

IMO $350 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much for an SKS!

I don't think these guys meant any disrespect gearhead222, I know I didn't. :)

I enjoy the fact that the unissued is going up in price since I already own one.

When I purchased mine for $300, I got the same comments.
Now it looks like people will have to fork out another $50 to get one.

IMO, yes it's high $$ for an SKS, but this is not your run of the mill SKS and from a collectors standpoint I feel it's well worth the money.

As far as a better batch, I don't think they could beat what I already got, as it is perfect. Never used. The piston has no carbon and the hammer is a wirgin. No scratches or mars. Wood is brand new.

Part of discussion on this forum is opinions on prices, it's fair game unless they get all personal about it or do it in the for sale forum.

As for Romanian rifles, I have 4 of them. Two of them are as good as any Russian I own in the accuracy department. One is about as you desribed and one I haven't shot yet.

Romanians are great if you can still find one in VG+ shape.

BTW -I see Norinco's going for $300 all the time around Colorado Springs and they sell.

I did not mean no disrespect.I was just stating what I think.I don't think a new sks is worth $350.00.I can get a new Chinese one for $250.00 LNIB. And the question is for real.what makes the yugo better then the Romanian's.

It's kind of hard to compare a unisuued Yugo to one of the Romanians becuase I never saw any Romanians that were better than VG.

So what would make an unissued Yugo better is the fact it's brand new.

Anyway in my experience the Romanians are well built rifles. But there's some slop to them as far as fit and finish go. They have a laquered finish on the wood that is generally scratched to some degree, sometimes quite a bit. The receiver and barrel are generally not a tight a fit to the wood as the Yugo.

You own a good Yugo so I'll compare to that vs a good Romanian.

The metal finish is about the same on both.

You already know the tolerances are tighter on the Yugo- ex your bolt pin.

The Yugo has cool night sights, grenade launcher and grenade sights.

The Yugo has nicer wood, teak. The new ones have beautiful blonde elm. The Romanians have the redish wood with laquer.

Plus for a Romanian is the chromed barrel.

For the price of $150-$160 I'd say they are equal. I haven't shot a Yugo yet but I expect it will be about the same as a Romanian.

My good Yugo has a darker metal finish than most my Romanians.
The finsih is about 80% on my best one.

M59/66 will be about 10 years newer than a Romanian, but then again these good Yugos seem to have had alot of use.

From a collecting standpoint, I would say the probability that the good Yugos saw combat is high.

Other than that, all the parts are identical so WTF.

Having said all that, if I could have found a new mint cherry Romanian for $300 I would have bought it too.

Dear Fellow Members-I guess that we have a difference of opinion and that's okay.I can tell you that the Romanian AK pivot pin tolerances are HORRIBLE!I narrowed a roughly 0.5 mm air gap on my new SAR1 trigger pivot pin/receiver hole by replacing the Romanian with a Polish Radom pin!The trigger actually had some serious lateral wobble! An aquaintance at work received a new SAR1 in the bag whose hammer pivot pin head was sheared off!And there was NO trauma to the receiver!I had a heckuva time replacing that pin with another and reusing the shepard's hook retaining pin!My trigger group was poorly rearsenaled,as the trigger bar was BENT and the disconnector was poorly fitted to the one Romanian SKS I bought from Century. What that translated to was strong drag and unpredictable letoff! And this is the nicest Romanian that my gun shop had seen! The Machine Shop said that he had seen many '58 Cugirs that were poorly arsenal refinished.I do think that the Chinese SKS's are underated by many people. My factory 26 only needed elevation adjustment to shoot 2-4" groups! And I agree that these Yugo SKS's are sweet!Just hope my exchange is as nice as what I've been hearing from other people.I agree that $350.00 is pricey for an SKS,but who knows where the prices/availability will be in a few years?Anyway,I enjoy this forum and will keep you informed of my dealings with IO concerning this return:)-Gearhead.

I was able to get a Romanian SKS in excellent condition with all matching numbers. I also have two Chinese and a Russian SKS. The Romanian SKS that I have is equal in quality to the Russian. I really like the Romanian, reasonably accurate and fun to shoot. Just my two cents worth.

Local pawn shop got Yugo's in. I'm picking up one, possibly more, tomorrow @ $165 each. Pokey074 took a look at one for me and said it appeared to be in damn good shape, although CAKED in cosmoline.

Guy swears that they have matching numbers, but we'll see tomorrow.

I agree with you Whos2know,I find $300 extremely stretching it.....I'll get one of the Ex. from Aim next month for $199

Dear Fellow Members-I agree,$300.00 is steep, but I do not want to miss the chance at having a pristine Yugo SKS.I called AIM today and they did not paint a pretty picture with their VG $149.95 Yugos. They are supposed to be receiving excellent ones for $199.95 in a couple of weeks, and I may buy one.Still,my local gun shop has ordered some and related how many have pitted, worn ie,not pristine bores,so I thought I'd play it safe with IO-Will keep you updated. What's so discomforting is the fact that you could receive an excellent to like new Yugo and it could still have bore pitting.Of course,it is all still a crap shoot and the best way to buy is to pick one yourself,if you do have that luxury.I don't,but am happy for those of you that do.Take care all:)-Gearhead.
