Sometimes in life, simple solutions are the best...The following works well for me. I have a Bulgarian Makarov and want to leave the original grips on. I also want to shoot it comfortably while plinking.
I have a pair of weigtlifting gloves. Mine were made by Saranac. They didn't cost nearly as much as an expensive pair of fancy shooting gloves. Importantly, they have open fingertips and good, but not excessive, padding in the palm area, so they allow you good control of the pistol. I had originally used them when shooting my PPK/S which tended to eat skin from the hand when the slide moves back (the infamous "Walther bite).
Well, I found (for me) these gloves work great for shooting the Makarov also, since the physical size of these two pistols is similar. I realize this post is no great revelation, but I see Makarov owners always talking about finding a "comfortable" grip and this alternative works for me and is cheap and practical.;)
In any event, good shooting to all Makarov owners!
