I was thinking of getting one from them but was curious how they looked.

Wait for AIM's offering, happening this month. $199 I hear. This is what I've heard around here.

J&G's latest flyer has SKSs, not sure if they're Yugos, $169ish.

I planned on getting 2 new condition ones from AIM if possiable but I thought since I can get 2 at 149.00 each from Century I might do that too. I already have 2 new ones from I/O so I am not really concerned about getting any from AIM if they run out.

Yeah that's the "hog them all law",I think it's 178.89....:D

OOPS I'm sorry wrong reg....It's in 921 & 922

921. Definitions
(a) As used in this chapter--
(13)(a) The term "collector SKS hog" means any person who acquires or holds more than two Yugoslavian SKS's while others are still waiting for an EX or better specimen.

922. Unlawful Acts
(a) it shall be unlawful--
(1) for any person
(C) to acquire or hold more than 2 Yugoslavian C+R SKS's other than a Licensed Dealer or Distributor
:D

Still haven't found the penalty but i'm pretty sure that it's surrender of half your collection to other C+R holders upon discovery.

The word from AIM was that the rifles would be available on Saturday January 5th but that has now just changed.

Sorry its been pushed back again. I don't have a definite date yet though.

I am still going to wait for AIM!

1PM- LMFAO!! Oh that was a good one. We need to post that in the info center. :)

Shooter, the Yugo's that Century have are fair to good to VG-. They are the same that SOG is offering. Mine had a dark bore but had most of the finish on the metal. The stock was great except for two deep gouges. I filled in the gouges and have been working on getting a perfect stain on the repair. It's about finished. looks very good. The bolt carrier was almost black with tarnish but I got it shining now. The bolt DID NOT match  My piston was brand new but I've seen others that were corroded.
The safety spring snapped when I popped out the trigger mech and had to spend $6 for a new one (Thanks for getting it for me W2K).

After several hours of work on the rifle over the last week, I would rate it as a VG in outer appearance, but overall good because the bore was not mirror. It cleaned up pretty good though, it's crisp and shiny just not mirror. I think I'll try some Sweets on it. Has anyone used Sweets? Does it help get things shiny or is it comparable to Hoppes and Shooters Choice (which I use frequently depending on the cleaning I'm doing, I don't combine the two) ?

I think you'll be better off waiting for AIM based on my experience and others. However we all know this is a crap shoot, you may get lucky. I'm very happy with mine now that it's fixed up, still need to shoot it though.

The money I used to spend on preban AK's now is being spent on C&R's. My wife keeps bitching that these our all junk guns. And I should spend more per gun. Funny though when I bought my SVD from CDNN she was bitching about the cost. For some reason I seem to need more then 5 of each style rilfe. Lets see $1000.00 preban AK = 20 M44 hmmmmmmmm.

EXACTLY- I'm exactly the same way. That's probably why I have two MAK90's and 12 M44's instead of a type 56S.

Dear Redstar-I judiciously use Sweets to remove jacket fouling. You should never leave it in a bore for more than 15 minutes or so-This stuff is corrosive! Also, you cannot use it with a bronze brush,as it will eat it up also.I recommend a plastic brush dipped in Sweets and a few swabs.Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes and then run some dry patches until (if) they come clean. You might also wrap some Gun-Bright bore cleaning pad strands around a plastic brush and use this with some standard solvent. These two methods will get alot of the crud out,but may not all.You might also try shooting at the range followed by some Sweets while the barrel is still warm.As I wrote earlier,do NOT leave Sweet's in the bore for longer than 15 minutes and be sure to run dry patches afterwards followed by some solvent patches to get rid of the rest of the Sweet's.My dollar's worth:)-Gearhead.

Thanks BCA!Flattery will get you everywhere with me!Almost forgot and this may sound basic Redstar, but do NOT let Sweet's touch any bluing or wood finish. Also, you can use it with a brass cleaning rod (as I do),but be sure to wash it off afterwords.Sweet's LOVES to eat up Copper ,Brass and Bronze! That's why I don't even use it every time at the range-Just randomly to remove jacket material.Thankfully,it's got the viscosity of snot,so it does not drip much, but be careful!:)-Gearhead.

OK will do. I'll post tomorrow about how good it does on the Yugo.
