Side Plate for 85B

I want to put a PSO V1 scope on my 85B. It does not come with the rail on the left side. I know Tantal sells a kit to add a rail to hold the scope mounts. Has anyone done this with the 85B? If so, is it relatively easy to do? How much drilling involved? Thanks for advice.

I dont have a 85, but I did install one on a maadi....instructions come with it as to how to measure for drilling on 2 holes,for both stamped and milled recievers, and what drill bit to use .....real easy, you will need to take out the fire control.

it's up to you, but I would go with the KOBRA...I use it and it is great, small and compact fast Acquisition, might say it's the poor man's ACOG for the AK...PSOs are for sniper weapon, dragenov.....the AKM is by no stretch of the imagination a sniper.

Thanks. How much is it for the side plate, if you know? I wrote Tantal but haven;t heard back yet. I am just trying to plan what I need to do on this project.

it's been a long time, but I do rememeber that when I bought the KOBRA from him, the optics mount, was less then it would have been if I bought it by itself.....be patient, he answers his e-mail, but I believe it's a one man operation.

RUSSIAN PATTERN KALASHNIKOV SIDE PLATES -MTK-01B (IN STOCK)

New style Russian type AK optics plates for rifle which were not originally equipped with a side mounted optics rail. This design is improved from the original MTK-01, having been modified to accept even more models of optics available now for use with Kalashnikov rifles.

The classic design is based on the military system which guarantees to maintain zero with Soviet derived quick detachable sighting systems, and provides the most solid and reliable optics base known to exist. This is the only type widely used in military services for over thirty-five years.

Installation instructions, special tool, and two sets of screws for either milled or stamped receivers are included. The MTK-01B requires only minimum hand tools and can be installed by anyone with average mechanical skills.
