I know if they are 50yrs old they are C&R but any other semis that are C&Rs? What also has to be included for the NFA rules/C&R guns to be shipped as described in the back section of the brown ATF C&R book?(ex. Thompson .45s, French MAS etc.)..Thanks...

There are many C&R semis:
French MAS 49 and 49/56
US Garand
US M1 carbine
Russian SVT
Russian SKS
Russian SVD
German (model escapes me at the moment)
Plus amny others, including a few Japanese "Garands".
As for shipping C&R NFA items:
Once the Form 4 is approved, the seller can ship/transfer the item. This can be by US Mail, USPS or Fed Ex.

I believe all of the SKS models except for the Chinese ones. FN49's, GEW43, MAS 44, Hakim, Lungman, VZ52, CZ52, Star Model B, The various South American .45 ACP clones.

There's a BATF link in the dealer thread in info center. However, I've been told it's not complete. There's a new "legal question" sticky in 1 Patriot of Many's area. Lots of great links to the laws there.

does the firearm have to be 50 years old or the design?

To make it a "relic" yes,but the curio part could be a gun manufactured a year ago,if it were rare, had a curios history, ect.....
For example the Full auto Armalite Colt Ar15 and the Armalite AR18 and Armalite AR10;None of them are 50 years old;all of them hold special interest for collecting due to their historyand the history of their design/company,relative scarcity,ect.......
Another example(semiauto) is the Colt Ar15 Sporter "Vietnam Tribute Colt Special Edition"....Definitely not very old being a "sporter" but relatively rare and special, only 1500 of them made makes them a C+R gun.
You can submit a gun to the ATF for consideration and they'll decide if it goes on the list even if it's not 50 years old.

You are correct on that I was thinking of a the AR 18 David.
The AR 180 is not on the list yet.

Not a semiauto but I find it strange that a brand new Winchester lever action such as the commerative rifles can be purchased with my C&R. No different from the standard model that requires an 001 FFL except for price and engraving, etc. Go figure.

Class III approval needed for the Armalite guns mentioned also? They are inder NFA rules too right? How about all of these "uppers and lowers" receivers for Armalite AR-15s in Shotgunnews? Can you come out cheaper to buy the receivers and parts and build a AR-15 like this? ^Thanks..:)

Yeah the Armalite COLT Ar15,AR18 and AR10 are all class3 items.
I imagine you could build an Ar15 a little cheaper finding the parts and putting it together, though Bushmaster and others make that a little tuff to do.Hesse(Avoid IMO) makes Ar15's for under $500...
Now don't confuse these Armalites upper's and lowers you see in SGN for C+R,they're NOT. Only the MG which has Armalite on it is a C+R(*AR*15 which stands for Armalite, was the designation before the design was sold to COLT,which later become known as the M16)
AR15 NOW denotes the Semi-version of the M16 as I'm sure you are aware.
Here's a little history in the developement of the AR18,AR15/M16,and AR10 if you're interested:

Because they are collectors items, relatively few will be made, they hold special interest, potential collection value ect which makes them a Curio.
If you could convince the ATF that the SAR1 has collection value you could get that on the list too...(of course that won't happen since there is way too many out there) :)

Would be nice if the AK series was C&R.. When poly tech and norinco flooded the USA market, that didn't help much either.
All full auto C&R are Class III license guns huh? Makes sense.
What are some cool loopholes for C&R guns that have been found? Age/ design/ gray areas?hehehe...!
