Anyone have know of a good FAQ that gives information on these pistols (ie purchasing, fakes, matching numbers, condition, price) ?

Anyone own one? What can I expect to pay for a "decent"example?

1. I got mine for under $400.00 dollars. cant remember exact price as it was a couple years ago. These are not as collectable as the DWM makes but have become worth more lately. You will find the Kaiser's Crown and date on receiver along with various proofmarks.

With original checkered grips

with new replacement grips to save originals.

(sorry, couldn't resist!):D

You might like these better:

I have consistently seen Lugers in "good" condition for around $500, even at gun shows. By "good", I mean 95% blueing, normal wear, matching numbers, essentially a shooter.

Years ago, I bought a DWM 1916 Luger in that condition, with some pitting above the barrel, for about $450 -- and I probably overpaid.

Good luck,

-Dave

Heh heh heh. I think those who are too young to have grown up on Superman comic books didn't understand that link.:D

Now, if only I'd saved those comic books...
