I have seen the Brazizlian and Argetine "Ballestor Molinos" .45s licensed by Colt. Are these good guns to get? Also anyone know who might have a Russian Tokarev T30 pistol for sale? Thanks!!

Sounds cool. I was wondering about their reliablilty. They interchange with USA Colt parts too right? magazines,etc..?

There's another Argentine 1911 that interchanges perfectly with all 1911 parts. I can't remember what they call it - it begins with an S, I believe. They were a Colt contract and are dated 1927, I believe.

The barrel and mags will interchange. I polished the feed ramp and it will eat anything.

Herrdoktor would be referring to the 1927 Sistema Colt. It is an exact copy of the Colt 1911 Government Model. All parts do interchange. It was supposedly made by Colt trained workers on Colt owned machinery, etc.

Taken from JLD's website:
After obtaining a license for the production of the Colt Model 1927 pistol from Colt, manufacture of the Sistema Colt Modelo 1927 was undertaken at the Military Small Arms Factory in Rosario, Argentina. Manufacture is believed to have started in March 1945 and deliveries shortly thereafter. The Sistema is a carbon copy of the Colt Government Model/M1911A1, with complete interchangeability of parts.

I got one from CDNN in November and I am extremely pleased with it. It's in excellent shape, great finish and shoots wonderfully. Considering the price and that fact it is shipped straight to your door, you owe it to yourself to get one.

The Ballester Molina is a good choice too. Why not get both, you don't need toilet paper (back issues of Shotgun News do just as well).

The lowdown though: the Ballester is generally cheaper, but parts may be hard to find. The Sistema is a tad more expensive, but Colt 1911 parts are plentiful.

You can't really go wrong either way.

C'mon... get both, you know you want to. Still not enough cash even without buying toilet paper? Save on beverages and cleaning supplies all at once....try Tang! Tastey and makes a great household cleaner why diluted properly or made into a paste!

Price will vary with condition and distributor.

Arsenal refurbished / like new Sistema's run around $300. Ballester Molinas in the same condition generally go for about $220 to $250 I believe.

The Sistema's are predominantly available from JLD Enterprises (http://www.jldenter.com) or Cruffler.com (http://www.cruffler.com) . Cruffler.com actually accepts and distributes orders for JLD Enterprises, so they are kind of one and the same. E-mail Adam Firestone of Cruffler.com ( cruffler@cruffler.com ) and ask him if they have any Sistema's in. They were still waiting for them to come in during the first week of December and JLD's website shows them as "arriving soon" so I don't know if they have any in yet.

CDNN Investments (http://www.cdnninvestments.com) has the Colt Sistema's for $300 as well. I think they may currently have some in stock. Like I said earlier, I got my Sistema (actually two) from them and was extremely pleased. I ordered them seperately and had them both withing a week of ordering each. They shipped via USPS Priority Mail. You'll have to get a catalog from CDNN, though, as they don't list firearms on the website.

J&G Sales, Ltd. (http://www.jgsales.com) has "About Good" Ballester's for $189.95 now. SOG (http://www.southernohiogun.com) has them, arsenal refinished, for $239.

Get a copy of Shotgun News and shop around. Be sure to check the sales flyers for SOG, J&G, CDNN, etc.

Sistema's that are serial number 10,000 and below are factory Colts made in the USA in the years1927/28 and have the most value. These pistols also have all factory Colt markings. Sistema's above the 10,000 range are built on Colt factory machines in Argentina, and will interchange part for part with a factory Colt. These are great factory clones, and of high quaility. Ballester Molinas are a bastardized 1911 design, with only major parts being interchangable. A fine pistol, but no longer can it be considered a Model 1911.
