Ok, I'm looking into making a scope mount for my M39 that won't permanantly alter the gun. I'm going to go in the popular direction of replacing the rear sight leaf with a long-eye-relief scope and mount.
What I need to know is: How deep, is that screw thats toward the rear of the sight base? Is it deep enough to use to anchor the rear of a custom mount or is this a bad idea? (I'm planning on anchroing the front to the pivot the rear leaf uses) (its a 1970 M39 sneak)
I know there are other mounts out there, but I have CADCAM equipment at my disposal and would prefer to make my own.
Any advise/wisdom is welcome
