Yeah, I'm curious as to how it feeds in an AK without getting the tip damaged. You ever hear of a reloader loading up some ballistic tips in 7.62x39. That bullet feeds well in an M1A and should do the same in an AK.

Here is a pic of them. I pulled the bullet from some Uly fmj and seated the Hornady V-max bullet. Real point-ey looking Huh!
I will load up some by pulling the bullets on some more Uly ammo. Then weigh the powder in 5 of them, take the averege and load the Horady bullets. Then a fellow AK-47.net member and myself will shoot them in our MAK-91 National Match rifles. Will report back as soon as the weather coperates.

Using AA1680??
Having pulled the bullets from 10rds of several brands of Russian ammo I found the powder charges to vary by 1.8 grains. I will do this on the ammo I am going to pull the bullets from to load the Hornady bullets into the cases. I will weigh the powder charge from 10 and get a average. Then dump all the powder in my measure and charge the cases then seat the Hornady bullets. I can't see wasting the powder from the Russian ammo and using AA1680.

Those bullets aren't in the 2002 Hornady catalog...Only .310's are the FMJ and SP bullets. Highest VMax is a .308 110 grain...

One thing with using the orginal powder in Wolf or Barnaul-you have to crimp the shit out of the ammo to get the velocity that the normal factory ammo does. When I swap bullets, and use no crimp, I lose about 100-200fps from the factory load.
TS,
The flyer I got from them sez "Exclusively from Graf & Sons!!". So they must have contracted with Hornady to produce this bullet just for them only.
PS,
I always crimp bullets for use in a semi auto rifle or pistol. Been there and seen the flatened primers from too much pressure of uncrimped bullets being pushed into the case during feeding.
