Until I get my C&R license (I hope it doesn't take as long as neilwest....he he) I've got a whopping 1 C&R rifle....it's getting lonely with the Ak's and handguns.....My like-new Russian M44 with all matching numbers!!!!:( :( :(

Should be pretty close or over 30 easily.

ItalianFire
01-07-2002, 07:34 PM
Sorry Redstar I couldn't resist man......he he.......I wanna get one of these 1938's from AIM.........are they worth $130.00???

7.62x54R caliber. The 1938 Carbine is the more rare, Shorter version of the 91/30. The 1938 features a tangent rear sight, hooded front sight, and rounded receiver. It does not have a bayonet lug. Specs include: 20" bbl, 40" overall, 7.62lbs. Comes with accessories as shown in great condition! All serialized parts match. In Excellent-Like New Condition.

Also would love to get one of there regular 91/30's too but even in perfect condition isn't $130 kinda high??? Maybe not the best conditon I've seeen a 91/30 in was very good and it was pushing that:D :D

Schuetzenman
01-07-2002, 07:46 PM
If I may render my opinion Italianfire, the prices for the 38 and the 91-30's isn't "Kind of high" if the condition is as stated. The $40 dollar 91/30's are beaters. Plus you get a serial numbered to the rifle bayonet! Do you know how rare that is to find any rifle with a serial numbered bayonet! Sheeeeeeat man, it's very very rare! That alone makes me want to get the 91/30. The rest of the accessories can be hanged, I want that bayonet that matches the rifle.

The 1938's eeh! I don't like short stubby guns especially in this caliber. Too much muzzle flash! Of course I realize that's one of the attractions for many, it's just not my cup-0-tea.

schuetz thanks for the info..........no I didn't have any idea how rare a matching serial number bayonet was...........Hopefully I'll be able to get one of these "like new" condition 91/30's and 1938's!

Not enough! I was GIVIN a Russian SKS (all matching numbers) and two cans of ammo about six months ago. The rifle is in excellent shape. The first time I shot it I was hooked into C&R. So hooked I got the license to shop over the net. I've just bought a M44 and it to is in great shape, even more hooked now. Once I get out of this finacial crunch, I will try to catch up with Redstar.

Damn who brought this thread back form the dead. I totally fogot about this as I posted it over a year ago.

My First M44 is still one of my most accurate. Got it in arsenal wrap with like new bore and all matching #'s. She shoots 1"groups with ease @ 100yrds. My latest M44 with kinda Bubba wood is my most accurate with the stock sights.

I now own around 28 C&R arms and I'm to tired to think of them all. I still don't have a C&R license but that will change VERY soon.:D I'm still waiting on my pair of Laminate M44's from AIM.

Just old guns? Eh, about a hunnert I 'spose. Still haven't picked up a C&R license. Really should one of these days. Most of the importers don't offer anything new for me, but it would save on the transfer fees for when I do find something. Where's the "50+ but not quite Redstar" catagory :D ?

According to my bound book I've got lots & lots of M44s. However many of those are "gunsmith specials" that I haven't gotten around to tinkering with (thankfully winter is coming & I'll be stuck inside more often).

Ones that I would be willing to head to the range with today? 30 or so, mainly Mosins, Mausers, & recently Enfields. (not that I really want to haul 30 rifles to the range & then clean them later ... but you get the idea :D )

My collection:

I don't live in the States and the local laws do not have a special classification for C&R. Over here only the full-autos, pistols and some of the semi-autos are registered:

I know it's a sort of a short coming in my collection. I used to have a Russian one, but the stock was rough so I sold it. I'm stuck between trying to find another or saving up for a MG-42....

As for the SVT's they are just the standard semi-auto ones.

I have only one. I have a beautiful hand select Mosin-Nagant 91/30 from SOG. All but the foreend was restocked with a dark cherry wood. The metal is in great shape (especially the bore). It was made in 1943. All the numbers match. I plan to purchase an M38, M44, and an SKS soon (I guess a FEG PA-63 doesn't count. How about a West German p-38/P-1? Its on the way).

Awesome second to none collection, photography and arrangement. For me you are the standard to judge by. One question, I forget the name of the one Russian semi auto with the drum, the P..... something. How in the world did you get your hands on that? Are they available anywhere? Again, superb collection and pictures.

Thanks for the complements, the SMG with the drum is a PPSh-41, which is still in original select fire. I brought it from a collector 10 years ago but they are still available here (NZ).

This list is subject to change at a moments notice.

You know it's been along while since I had so few that they could be easily counted.

Don't really know (or care) exactly how many. Been at this since before there were C&R FFL's! That is: back when really nice Lugers could be had for well under $100 (and anybody could buy one thru mailorder).

Always bought another because I wanted that particuliar weapon, not to increase the size of the accumulation. A genuine collector specializes , most of us accumulate! Guess, I easily have more than fifty true C&R handguns. Have many more long guns than the pistols.

Don't think I have two hundred total though. Still don't have enough!
