Well, I was in the local gunshop last night while returning from my weekend drill with the National Guard. I happened to spot a Makarov in the display case. I couldn't quite make out the origin from 6-feet away. SO, I asked the type and price. The girl said, "I think it's Romanian, the tag say's $189.00. After handing over my CCW permit, I asked to take a look at it. It sure wasn't Romanian. It had some holster wear on the muzzle and front side of the grip frame. I looked a little closer, turned out to be an EG. Serial number# on slide and frame matched (AT prefix..have no idea what this means). There was also an importer mark on the rear left side of the frame betweeen the grip and the edge of the slide; " Makarov 9x18 Germany H.M. SAC , CA" and the other side of the frame is dated 1961, the "AT" prefix #. Above the trigger housing on the left side of the frame is this symbol: "k100" in a box. From what I have read on this forum and the makarovinfo site. I think I got an "on par" deal.

When I was active duty in the FRG, I was never able to get my hands on one (Central Bavaria being too damned far for a day trip to Berlin).
And I find one right in my hometown. Gotta love it.
Now to buy a holster and a cleaning kit!

Geeze, yet another hobby gun to get me in trouble with the wife.

Just let her fire it. Mine fired mine and she now owns two Bulgies. Mine is too good to fire all the time as it has no import markings so I have to ask if I can borrow one of hers now and then. ;)

Thanks MISRy,

Actually, the only real problem is that she likes it, and is a slightly better shot than me. (I might find it in her holster someday). No pride lost though. She's a good country girl with good sense... at least to keep me out of trouble.
:D

Doesn't work with mine.

She'll look at a gun and say " I don't like it" and their ain't no changing her mind.

Same here. We got the surplus at the store we frequent as an impulse buy. She saw it and just had to have it. That bad boy is about the most dead-on Mak I have ever fired. At 7m she's working on a smiley face like Riggs in Lethal Weapon. A few more trips to the range, Wednesday night is ladies night, and she'll have it.
