a band retainer on my m44 broke today :( . it seems these are cheaply welded together, the part you see and the pin that holds it to the stock. i'm going to try JB WELD to glue it back together, do you have a better suggestion ?

JB weld works too, I used it for the same thing and have had no problems with the spring yet. It's a bitch holding it long enough to set though. Super glue might work just as well, or better yet get a new spring.

Redstar, do you think Tapco might have the retainer springs for sale? If not Gun Parts probably does.

Tapco doesn't list them...
Another idea would be to order a Century UFIXUM for $10-$20 depending on how bad it is, and chances are high they'll have the band springs intact. A M91/30 would work too, doesn't have to be a M44 for the spring. You may luck out and get a nice barreled action and a few other salvagable parts out of it. I ordered one to get an ejector, came with the ejector, a nice stock, a functional bolt, barrel bands, springs, buttplate, a few other things. The barrel was rusted out and no sights, but I got the part I needed and some decent spares (which I need to keep for myself- sorry) for my other rifles.
Cost was $20 shipped.
