Seriously, moderators are people who kind of "oversee" the discussion board, they move posts, make things "sticky" (stay on top of the board - like our "pick of the week" series) and try to help and answer questions. Possible moderators are chosen on their expertise on a particular subject and other qualifications they may have.

New moderators are added when a need arises. It is like getting a job, you get "interviewed" and "hired". A possible moderator is asked if they would want the job, and interviewed by the Administrators and/or other moderators.
