...and an optical sight or scope, you can easily make a detachable cheekpiece.
Take the detachable cheekpiece made for aftermarket Fibreforce SKS stocks (both Tapco and ACE sell them, ACE as a cheekpiece for ACE stocks, about $8). It will fit on your ACE stock without modification, but will be too far back on the stock to be of any use.
Install it backwards - what should be the rear of the cheekpiece towards the front of the weapon - and notch it to fit the ACE rear trunnion using a hacksaw and file so you can slide it forward over the trunnion. Then drill a new hole for the attaching bolt/thumbscrew in the space between the upper and lower tubes forming the buttstock. It's easier and looks better if you toss the stock bolt & replace it with a 1/4X20 allen-head bolt instead of cutting a square hole to fit the stock bolt. Don't have the ability to post pictures, but if you've got the cheekpiece and an ACE buttstock in front of you this should be pretty self-evident.
At that point you're done with regard to function. Clean it up with a hacksaw, file, and emery cloth eliminating the old hole for the bolt/thumbscew - but leave as much of the cheekpiece extending down over the lower buttstock tube as possible since that's what holds it in place. Any place you screwed up the finish on the cheekpiece is easily remedied with emery cloth and fine steel wool.
So for 8 bucks and an hour's time you end up with the most astonishing thing: An AK that has the proper ergonomics for an optical sight or scope, allowing you to shoot with a proper cheek-weld. You have to remove the cheekpiece to use the iron sights.
If you've got black plastic furniture, this matches it. If you have wood furniture and have not been taking your medication regularly...
Cut the cheekpiece through horizontally at its widest point, and epoxy a block of wood 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" X 7" or so onto the top of what was left of the cheekpiece and file and sand it to shape. I've got Ironwood walnut foregrips & pistol grip, & Ironwood provided me a matching piece of walnut to do this with.
