The only problem I ever had was with Cor-bon and most I've heard mention it don't have problems with those. I stick with the Barnaul HP, they open up like they are flying ashtray wanna-be's and are much less expensive anyway. This is a Makarov, the "j" word doesn't apply here.

BTW: Very nice catch. Do the mags have matching numbers hand written on?

Nice one -- I like the blueing on the frame.

Mine's one of the double-stack jobs, and it has a parked (factory it appears) frame -- it's durable, just not very attractive. :(

Enjoy!

1. This came in pristine condition, original blueing. I cleaned the grime off of her and oiled her up a bit, otherwise as you see it is as she came

2. Yes the mags are matching with scratched in numbers (appears that way anyway). :D

Looks like a Russian. Is that a Circle 10 or the Arrow?

1. No, that is a circle Arrow, but it was sold as a Bulgarian.

You lucked out like a big dog my friend. That is a beautiful pistol and its a Russian. You received one of the pistols as it came straight from CAI. Those that got them through J&G, SOG et all had the original grip and lanyard stolen from them before they even bought the pistol.

1. Im thrilled. That was the only one complete and it was sold at $125.00 as a Bulgarian. I hope that was a good deal? But from what you guys say I lucked out. This is great.

2. The other ones were the same price but not holster, lanyard, or extra grip. Being sold as Bulgaian NIB.

hey guys go ahead and buy the ones with out the accessories, its still a great buy, holsters ,laynards and cleaning rods are still out there to buy. also Empire ARMS still advertises russian maks in excellent condition but for $300. Mark kubes at surplus firearms and parts has many accessories for these and other guns.

BIG TIME!

This looks to me like an original Russian military, mismarked as "Bulgarian".

I picked up one of these (1976) last week, but I paid $169 WITHOUT the lanyard. Ok, so that's only about a $5 item, but also, somebody had replaced the orig. red star grip w/ one of those cheesy Bulgarian "thumbrest" grips.

I can't tell for sure from your photo, but does that little symbol between the ser. # and the date have a triangle inside a circle? If so, you're golden - that's the Russky mark.

I concur with DragonDog, et. al.

You stole it, and it's Russian. Lucked on to one this summer from a dealer/friend. he sold it to me as Bulgarian for $140. Markings didn't jibe with what I was reading on the net. Later found that there were indeed a batch of mis-marked ones by this importer. Mine also has the 1976 date, and like DDog, mine has the silly black "thumbrest" grips, just haven't got around to finding the correct ones yet.

I'd like to find out the story on these actually. Was there a lot of the Russians shipped to Bulgaria, or did they find their way here through some other channel and were intentionally marked Bulgaria to get around some importing regs?
