The GUNSNET family is committed to excellence in every aspect of our great websites. We will uphold a standard of integrity bound by fairness, honesty and personal responsibility. Our distinction will be the quality of WEBSITES, we bring to you our members. Accurate knowledge of weapons in general and the internet combined with ability is what makes us and our volunteer moderators true professionals. By maintaining that our websites are safe and productive, we offer our members the opportunity to take pride in being a member of this site, to gain knowledge through challenge and to prosper with our growth. Above all, we will be watchful of our members' interests and make their concerns the basis of our business. We see that we must be doing something right, you have spread the word about us and we have seen growths that have been off the scale when it comes to gun-related websites. We thank you!
We are about to grow much more in the next few months, there are other gun sites ;rolleyes: who will try to nix our growth, for their own benefit. I will make known to the their advertisers who they are, this way, we can protect your and our interests.
We are ALL seeing just the tip of the ICEBERG. There will be more good things to come. Just sit back and watch us ALL evolve.
In closing, I would like to say please EVERYONE stand up, that claping sound :bigdeal: is ALL of us thanking you for being a member here at this site. We look forward to hearing from your contributions. please feel free to comment below!
You ALL have a good evening!
From ALL of the Admins, Moderators and myself
Thank You,

Well, BowHunt, this sounds really great. In the interest of the honesty and integrity you promised, how about listing the real names of the administrators, moderators, security chief, et al. -- just the names, not email addresses or other contact numbers.
As a beginning, my real name is Bill Tucker. Are you up for the challenge?

Bill -
I see your a fairly new member to the board, so I will say "Welcome Aboard, make yourself at home."
I'm sure you'll make friends if you stick around and talk to everyone. I will say that your request seems a bit Odd with being a new member. As far as my name, those who know me, know my name.. its not hard to figure out. As far as anyone else... frankly its their business and their who they give their name to. No one asked you for your name and you offering your name doens't justify issuing a challenege to this administration.
No offense, but you give me the impression of a wanna-be "Kick asses and take names" guy who's nothing more then a average joe. So relax ok?
Again, Welcome aboard and hope you stick around awhile.

Chris,
Bill is an old timer from the old gunsnet general forum. He's cool.

Well, Chris, I have been a continuing member of the old guns.com, or whatever it was called, since 1998, and followed the progressions through guns.net over time. I predate you as a member of the original forum and have watched your progress as the administrator of the last two or three. Some of your forum moderators (just guessing the identities, mind you) are newer than I, and some go back further.
As I review my post, I don't see any profanity, death threats, or anything else at all threatening. I didn't ask for any info that could lead to discovery of personal information about the moderators, etc. Didn't even ask that the names be regularly identified, just that they be put in a reply to a reply to a post. And you ducked...Are you doing this all by your self or do you really have security chief, moderators, etc.? We will, of course, never know. Probably doesn't make much difference to most, but it does to me and a few others. Call it that honesty thing.
Seems we had a mini-controversy in the last site about real names vs fake, and came to an amicable conclusion. Basically, if you had guts and nothing to hide, some continued to use their real names, as had been the exclusive practice in the forum before you came on board. Many others used net names and that was fine. We learned the people and personalities over time, and had a good board, albeit relatively small.
God only knows the grief you went through keeping the old board together and adding features. We grumbled a bit but enjoyed it in the end. This new adventure was a surprise, but not necessarily a bad one, to most of us. Most were not even surprised at the discourtesy (is that a word?) of not informing the old board members of the change and the new web address. That seems common for you. Fortunately? one or two folks forwarded the info and most of us eventually found the new site.
What's up? Deliberately trying to lose us, or what? Or maybe it's just me you don't like (big grin).
Responding more directly to your reply, you'll notice mine is correctly spelled, and not profane. Interesting how the "phuck" part of the intro disappeared after my post and some replies. I'm far too busy to take names, and "kicking ass" on the internet is a joke. I can still do it in the real world, but never have to. I continue, however, to seriously practice firearms and martial arts skills, just in case. Yep, I am just an average joe in most regards, or what I hope an average joe would be -- concerned with the defense of the Constitution, and especially the Second Amendment, his family, his friends, and his right to worship, or not, any God he chooses.
Yes, I guess my post was a challenge, but I thought it was one easily met, with no harm, and a good benefit for you by being open and identifying the other folks. Guess your answer means that there is no one moderating, etc. this board but Christopher Stowell. And that's an answer in its own right.
I'll be very surprised if this post gets on the board. Just in case it doesn't, have copied all the posts to this topic to date, including this one, and will email to a few of the old boys and girls. Just gotta love that net -- information does get around -- last bastion of freedom, etc.

A little long winded, but interesting enough that I read it all. My user name says it all. What system of martial arts do you practice? It's always good to talk to others with the same interests!

Kenpo karate is the base, coupled with some common sense and practical modifications for my age, body type, and flexibility. We short-legged folks, at least me, have never done circus kicks well, but in the street doesn't really matter. When I was much younger and sparred a lot, used to love to get someone in a full thrust kick and pay attention to the balance leg. Our school thought of aerial assaults (both legs in the air in a committed move) as a no-no.
The last 20 years or so we've been out in the country, where the closest studio was tae kwondo and a fair drive. Never really had much interest in that discipline, so passed. Never did, of course, get a black in kenpo, since the best students in our system averaged nine years to 1st degree black, and I only worked it hard for a couple of years in Dallas.
Just practice enough now to keep the rust off, and stay mentally sharp. No matter the age, the disciplines of awareness, focus (whether white dot or black), perception, and humility can always be practiced, and should be, whether the weapon is empty hands or an AK.
Think I should make a study of ground fighting, since that's probably where I'll be if up against some of the high schoolers around here. (Big Grin)
More than anybody ever wanted to know. Good news is I don't post that often. Bad news is that I can still type.

Thats kind of funny.. actually thats fucking hilarious. Maybe you should check that little and i do mean *little* spot you call a brain... Just who do you think I am... remember this and remember it well... I've been around SINCE THE FIRST POST of Guns.com went up back in 1994... I STARTED the site. I've been running boards for firearm enthusiasts since before you even probably knew what the internet was.
I'll stop here cause your not worth anymore wasted oxygen.

My apologies -- didn't realize you'd been here so long. Only point was that I was kind of surprised you didn't recognize me, since the rest of the old forum did, and you had been the administrator for the last couple of years at least.
Got a lot of the Irish in me, so tend to rise up from time to time. Did copy the posts, but doubt I'd ever take the trouble to do the mass email. Life is short, and there's more to it than internet wars.
Am enjoying your comments. Sounds like someone struck a nerve somewhere...if this continues, you may confirm your status as a true dithering idiot.

My name is Peter Wendt. I am located in North Carolina. I joined back when it was GUNS.COM. As a matter of fact the first person with whom I conversed was Scott Vaughn.
That was a long time ago.

Well since you are obviously another that knows little.. the "Evil Administrator" came from those who basically thought I was wrong for aquiring Ak-47.net and bringing it back to life, rather then let it just fade into the sunset. If I'm Evil because i WANT to keep discussion boards running instead of letting them fall to the side then so be it..
You can say murle was right.. or this person or that person was right.. but ya know.. when it comes down to it.. they left... they ran.. i'm here.. and so are ALOT of others... If you can't get along with some of the people here you SURE AS HELL are going to hate everyone else cause quite frankly your nothing more then a scared little puppy who doesn't like it when you have the first kitty to come along and scratch your little nose.. do you need a bandaid?
Ya know... I could have very well shut down the general boards but I'm a better man then that. Instead... As I do what I can to keep this board alive, I'm met by nothing but slander by you supposed "long time followers" of the board. Quite frankly... I could care less that you don't like my attitude. I've been through hell and then some with administrating this site since its beginning and MOST of you never offered to lift a single finger to help. That says alot about your character... Your nothing more then a Couch Jockey Bandwang Riders who will sit watch praise but when the slightest sign of "disagreement" comes up.. your right there bitching and moaning... Give me a break.
I'm a bigger man for being able to stand up for myself then you are for putting me down. I'm all for you standing up for what you believe but when I stand up in my own defense you all suddenly think i'm in the wrong... well quite frankly... like I've told a few others..
See that little X in the upper right? use it.. otherwise.. get a clue and move on...
If you don't like it, Too bad cause trust me.. I'm not the only one on here that will stand up to defend myself, but I'm not going to cower like some of you and run cause you were put back into your place...

Chris,
Guns.Com was an attempt at civility in an era of sewer sites. Gunsnet held to that for some time.
Has the civility now gone from here?
That's all. Nothing more. No put down. Just an observation.
And I do appreciate what you have done. I question where it is going though.
And I AM STILL HERE;)

ITs always been here... but what has come with the growth.. is the fact that I will no longer put up with someone telling me whats right and wrong with how i run this site. The General boards are STILL here... and they always will be...
For someone to tell me what some of the "old-timers" have.. well i will no longer sit around and let them. They have no clue what I'm capable of... and those that do.. well lets say we are all good friends.
Thanks for sticking around. Hopefully others will realize that before jumping on my case they should reconsider and think real hard.
Well I took the time to reregister even though I know this will be the only post I will make.
I am utterly disgusted and slightly ashamed at the childish garbage attitude of our administrator. I do not care how many gun forums 'he has made for gun enthusiests' as in my eyes, his actions show very negatively towards responsible gun owners. Types like him give people who want to take our guns away the ammo to do that even though there are bad apples in every basket and that shouldnt sway an opinion ALTHOUGH IT DOES nevertheless as we all very well know.
The only worthwhile part of this thread is that it shows who has class and who doesnt.
Thumbs up Bill.
Chris I am not taking away from your obvious hard work, but I must ask why you must ruin any sort of good reputation you could have with your actions.
I myself used to have a good opinion of the man who ran these forums.
I enjoyed the gunsnet where people treated each other with respect and did not degenerate to swearing like an idiot.
I swear with the best myself I would like to note.
I do not like the direction this forum is going if the utter basics of common decency are ignored.
I will now 'tuck my tail and leave'... only because I am standing up for MY beliefs. Remaining here would be contrary to that.
I hope I can keep in touch with the good friends I have made over the years.
Cheers, and keep em in your sights.

Thanks for the support, Gord and Jim. This board has some good areas to check out, and have been doing so. Too bad Chris and I got into it so early, but what the heck -- the air is cleared. Will visit from time to time, but no longer my home.
Thanks, Chris, for letting the discussion remain open. Takes a bit of courage to do that. Good luck on your newest adventure.

I cannot believe the garbage below this post of mine. In attempt to convey my feelings to all the sites here at GUNSNET.
Why is it, I am not surprised by the people who have mouthed OFF below. Chris has always told me about you people, how you need to be crossing your t's and dotting your i's with these people.
You mean the same people who just support him and his site with lecture's and more threads and more BS. I asked him has anyone from this area of gunsnet, ever ask how they could help support the site. ALL I got was a NO, noone ever goes there. While on the other side of the tracks, we get people offering us donations to the site. Which helps tremendously.
You people who complain......... WOW, how up lifting it must be to be Chris on this site. What nice things that comes out of your mouths about the site and him.
At first I bit my tongue, knowing what was being said here. The very next day I have become very disappointed by what I see here on MY THREAD. We have people here just thinking hell know body knows me **REALLY** So I can just speak my mine and say what I need to say and get this OFF MY CHEST.
Well then, since I see there is hardly any respect, NOT a play on words. But there is NO RESPECT for what Chris has done here, the long nights he has put in. Especially everytime we discussed which site has the least amount of traffic why not just drop it. He always says, I am keeping it up.
FOR WHAT more keyboard commandos stabbing him in the back.
Let me just say this and I will leave and I promise you this, IF WE have another meeting about this site, I assure you with what I have seen here on this thread. You can just officially hang it up people. wink wink, like bye bye, got it good........
Actually I have a better way of saying it..... to assholes like BILL, Gord (two thumbs up Bill, fuck you), aerod1 and all the rest you just don't give a shit about this site or GUNSNET anymore
Chris may run GUNSNET and this board a way many of you disagree with, but at least Chris is doing something for those of us ( like 12,900+ MEMBERS) out there who want information and a place to share their questions. You talk a LOT of shit for some people who lifts a finger only to criticize and complain to an about the man.
Get a life, get a backbone, and get a clue. Or you could just get the fuck out.

Gord - who acts shamefully against who?? who started badmouthing who first? Sorry that you and the others involved can't take what you dish out... like i said before... Thank god I'm in my sandbox cause if your all the "example of mature and grown up" hell i can do with out two-faced adults like you.
Common Decency? Doesnt' that start with respect? If i remember right in the last couple weeks YOU ALL have attacked me.. i'm simply defending myself.. if you don't like it.. then BACK OFF.
BIll, you sit there and say we cleared the air.. frankly no we haven't you sat there and SAID YOU MAILED THIS OUT CAUSE YOU CLAIMED THIS POST WOULD VANISH and then sat there later and said you never did.. your a damn pier who when put on the ropes with your own lies tries to cover and move on.. ADMIT YOUR MISTAKES AND YOUR LIES.
Jim, well sorry you didn't like my email to you but your email to everyone privately EXTREMELY upset me. YOu emailed me back and didn't apologize for your slander of me in private. That doesn't say much for your "respect" now does it? SImply saying "Thanks i've been upset" not one "I'm sorry for jumping on you cause I obviously didn't read the numerous posts you made about bad emails when my email was my old one.. I should have seen it... I'm sorry" no you simply stated you "... have been unhappy with the administration for quite some time." Well you tell me?
As for the rest of you that don't like me.. well quite frankly i don't care anymore.. i stuck my neck out for ALOT OF YOU in the past. I scratched up to keep things going FOR YOU and you can't stand change now.. like Bowhunt said.. no one here has offered to help me out to keep thigns running... and yet your bitch and moan.. well shit happens.. times change and we move on....
So here.. if your unhappy fine.. I will be more then happy to deactivate your accounts.. so far i have Bill, Gord, Paul, Jim, and who else? I mean you say your leaving... so why keep something active...
EvilAdministratorxx
01-13-2002, 03:49 AM
And so you all that want to bitch and moan about how i run things.. well lets see whats happened in the last year or so alone... (well i'll go back 2 years)... mind you.. this site has STILL stayed up through all this.....
grandfather died... got divorced... cat was run over (ya this is a funny one)... got laid off work... grandmother died... got new job but laid off again... (gotta love tech sectors)... lost custody of child... and now... well now those that "support" this site are doing nothing but bad mouthing me...
so you ask yourself if you really ARE right for your justification of telling ME that you don't like my change... quite frankly MOST people would have said fuck off and shut it down completely WAY before now... but no i'm still here.. clawing through your bullshit and keeping things running...
I'm done with this thread now.. and quite frankly i'm done with your shit... leave if you dont'; like it cause i'm here.. i'm me... and I ain't changing for you....

I have made many attempts to get the members of the "guns.com" group support the site with bucks! Every attempt resulted in me being slammed for begging. For the record, I have sent Chris money to support his efforts (not much or enough) but I have given something. How many of you can say the same? I too am one of the original members of guns.com and I support Chris in running this site as he chooses. I was never too fond of the "real namr gang" anyway.

Geez. My computer got electrocuted just before Christmas and it finally is up again as of late Monday night. I have missed my family of choice, and now they seem to be fractured, but not beyond repair.
Never being one to run from a fight, here am I to read, learn, and probably raise a few nettles from time to time. I am not angry but very sad. In among the lines of contention are a number of truths and some very angry polarization. I think we all need to take 10 deep breaths and start again. I have been here from g.com. Here are some of my thoughts.
1) The format has changed several times, along with the http address. Change is good when viewed from the idea that it prevents boredom. I am not a tech-type person, but I can muddle through the format change by playing with it until I get it down pat. If I can do this, imagine what the rest of you can do who are much more knowledgeable! Maybe while trying to figure out configurations we can all just not negatively comment on them or, at the very least, offer some positive input into the changes.
2) I agree with Bavarian about offers of help. In the past more than 1 of us has privately sent/received emails about monetary help, but none was accepted. Personally I have been contacted by Bavarian, Jorgen, and others about how to help keep the site going. Maybe some of us were not aware of this and maybe others have forgotten. Remember the PayPal thingie to which some of us had contributed? I do. I certainly wish with all my heart that I make more than $6.50/hour so I could give more. But the fact is, I don't. However, support can also come in the way of morale-boosting and positive posts. Do we still have the PayPal option? I would be more than willing to contribute say $5/month. If we all do, what a help this could be.
3) Chris, I am so sorry to hear of all the bad things that have befallen your personal life. If I had a magic wand, I'd surely use it to assuage your suffering. But I don't. Bad things happen to good people all the time and good happens to bad people, too. There are always options. The trick is to see them. The awful thing is to react instead of respond to the slings and arrows hurled at us by wounded spirits.
4) I miss my family. Let's put aside harsh words and feelings and work together for the good of all.

WOAH!! What kind of talk is this?? Certainly not the kind of talk that I'd like our "liberal adversarys" to get hold of... Let's not give them any "ammunition" to use against us, guys... Even though I'm old I still understand testosterone, but lets keep it off the posted, public access locations... If you guys want to show your back sides do it in private and don't embarass the rest of us who are gun nuts... We only want positive publicity... Besides, as my teenage son says "Arguing over the internet is like running the special olympics... Even if you win, you're still retarded"... Sounded funnier when he said it...
