Well, since I'm the first to post here I thought I would start it off right by sharing a picture of one of my 1938 Turks.

Man she's purdy!

I got several of the very good M38's that Century has been offering lately, they are in really nice shape with new stocks, kind of rough wood but clean up well with some steel wool and linseed oil. real nice bores too.

Look at the stock! Did you refinish or was the stock replaced previous to your buying the rifle? Gorgeous! :D

Yes, I refinished the wood back in July. This particular rifle is one of the Century VG condition rifles for $59.00. I GunKoted the metal and sanded the wood and stained it.

This rifle is stamped 1943 and is a really great shooter. It still amazes me how nice it turned out.

That thing is awesome with a capital A!

I got a Turkish Mauser from Schuetzenman a few months ago and NC_Rebel fixed it up for me. He did a great job too.

Let me ask you... do you have any trouble getting the magazine floorplate to come off? I've poured a ton of oil in mine and tried to lubricate it, but it's just *really* hard to get it out.

Raphael,
Hi Schuetzenman here. Yes some of those Turks are really tight on the floor plates. Frankly a needle file and some stones is what you'd need to free it up. Then reblue where you removed metal.

Out of my 4 Mauser, I only have one that is tough to get the floorplate off of it and it is this one. All the rest off them just slide off after the pin is pushed. If anyone is interested, Brownells sell an extended floorplate button that sticks out just a little lower than the floorplate. The cost is about $9 for 2 of them using the dealer discount that your C&R license entitles you to get.
