I got my two from Wholesale Gunsnammo and they got'em from Samco Global Arms Inc. in Miami, who must be the importer.

I would really like to find a couple of these in "unissued" condition!

Does anybody have any leads?

I'm looking to buy one or two of these when I get my license.

What condition are your two rifles in, that you got from Samco? How does the barrell look? Do they shoot well? I am thinking about buying some from Samco.

I know that the supply of the Swedes is quickly drying up. Schuetzenman can probally help you out.

They are beautiful. The barrels were pretty grimy but after a couple hours work on each with the highest grade solvent I could find and wearing out two .30 cal phospher brushes they are mirror bright.

Took'em completely apart with no instructions and removed a light coat of cosmo where barrels fit into stock.

I've never shot a better firing rifle.

Recoil is light. Noise -no problem with just some moistened Kleenex in the ears.

As I remember, all three holes were touching at 25 paces with both guns after a bit of elevation adjustment.

I've got the M-39,K-31,M91/30, and M-44Russian from Aim(still in the wrapper.)The M-44 is pristine BUT the gun that keeps drawing me back to hold and admire is the M-96.

Oh.I had to remove the steel butt plates to do some touching up where someone put the butt down hard and buggered up a screw head and clean a small amt of rust off the inner side of the plates, otherwise No rust at all.

When you put your hands around these beauties and putt'em up to the shoulder you can feel you've got the best of the best.

Well enough raving! Hope you get the license soon.

BTW ,I called Samco and they've got a small showroom there in Miami where you can go and select from their display if you make a prior appointment and set it up.

that sounds oustanding. I can't wait to get one. If my license doesn't come soon and Samco still has some, one of my uncles here in Texas has a C&R and I'll get him to order me some. I want to make sure to get at least one of these.

Also, I live in Austin and about two years ago my buddy and I ran an add in the paper in the guns section entitled, "WANTED TO BUY". I was after some more modern guns, but my buddy wanted enfields and mausers. He was very lucky and got about 5 good rifles. He got a perfect swedish mauser for about $135. That may be another option to pursue.

Thanks for the info,
Jason

Here's a pair of Sweds a 96 on top and a 96/38 on the bottom. Originally a longer 96 it was modified to the short rifle configuration and the Swedish Naval dial sight added for the rear sight. Which reminds me I need to do a photo of the Naval sight for those that haven't seen one.

On who has Sweds these days. Tough one. Federal Arms up in MN has had them listed then there are the arrogent pricks at Sampco Global that have some nice ones. My latest SOG flyer had them listed too! I don't like SOG either so let me say buyer beware with those bozos.;puke: I think if I wanted one I'd try Samco first.

Oh and some trivia about the 96's and the 38's the sights are set up for a 300 meter zero. So they will shot about 18 inches high at 100 yards until you put on a taller front sight blade, which is what I did to the 96/38. I havent' modified the 96 yet as it's not my favorite to shoot. I prefer some of my other Sweds with the match sights.

Great pics- mouth watering

I was in a store a couple days ago and found an 1894 short -I guess it was a carbine-that had all matching #'s and that dial rear sight.

I looked at it for at least a hour but the price $399.95- which ran me away.

Barrel was bright, 10%blue,stock a few dings but not bad,and oh! so sweet to hold.

After considering what I could get at Century for 400, I passed.

However, I would have paid $250 in the blink of an eye but owner was not interested.

Maybe if it had been pristine-unissued ,I'd have flipped for the 400.

Everything that was offered there was about owner cost X 3 and in some cases X4.
I don't mind getting kissed on the cheek but have to draw the line at what this guy wanted to do.

It was obvious after a few minutes conversation that he didn't particularly care for "those damn fussy nit-picking collector types."

His usual customers appeared to be rural country cau's who were not I-net active and who could be dazzled by footworkand baffled by bullshit.

Oh well, there's another special just around the corner.

Schuetzenman, which replacement front site post would you recommend for a 100 yard zero? Samco lists several, from .75 up to 2.5. I don't want one so small that it's not high enough and not one that's so tall as to look funny.

Oh boy you would ask me exactly how tall. Well it will vary a bit but I really don't remember what my front sight ended up being. For example the 96/38 in the pics is equipped with a replacment front sight blade. I got it from SOG and it was overly tall and I had to file it down. Too tall isn't a problem as long as you own a file. :D

Put it on, take a shot at 25 yards and see where it hits for windage and elevation. Chances are you will shoot quite low. Then file off about .020" and try again. Walk it in until you are close for example within about 2 inches of point of aim with point of impact.

Then switch to 100 yards and tune in until you are satisfied. I soot the sight or black it some way before I shoot it each time so that it won't glare which can give it the appearance of being taller than it is. This will trick a person into filing off more than they should.

Oh, and be advised of this detail that many don't know about. The base that all mauser front sights are dovetailed into . . . is screwed to the front of the barrel. These screws can come loose and you will chace your windage left and right until you think you are losing your bleeping minds! LOL! I almost always check these for tightness. If I can get it out, I'll put blue loctite on it. If she won't budge I leave er alone.
