Here's a close up of the magazine and trigger area of a Cut-Away CZ 8 mm rifle from my collection. This thing is great the bolt works and you can see the firing pin move as you cock it and fire it.

Heres a great view of the breech of a Mauser and how it's built take note of the threads and how they engage the receiver ring. Also take notice of the Cross Bolt in the stock. Many have asked if they need to take these out to clean a surplus weapon completely and what do they do. Here you can see how the recoil lug on the receiver fits against the cross bolt to distribute recoil to the bolt and not into the stock at the rear of the receiver. If you look close you can see the tongue and groove relationship of the magazine floor plate as well.

In this view you can see the how the barrel fits inside the stock and upper handguards. Notice that there is an "Air Gap" around the barrel. The wood should not touch the handguards except perhaps right were the barrel exits the handguard and stock. Also take note of the rifling helix that is visible in the cut-away section. I have more views but couldn't load them as the free 5 megabites is full. :(

Those pics are ,as they say, better than a library full of words.

As good as a bowl of hot grits with a slab of butter.

Great thread, Schuetz!

I agree with what clearblue said, it is a great way for someone to get a good feeling how the Mauser works.

Where did you ever pick that up and was it expensive? It must have a high collector value, as the cut a way has to be rare.

Well Zouave,
I found it in the rack of another dealer at a Gun Show here in North Carolina. I didn't get it right off, in fact I think about 8 months went by with me seeing it in this guys racks at about two shows a month. Finally I just had to have it. Cost, well I got him down to $150.

Here it is again in the group photo of a bunch of my Mauser rifles.

Another view. Sorry about the one at a time but that's the only way I can get the Webshots images on here.
