I got this damn thing about 3 months ago. Still haven't shot it.

Beautiful gun. M48A from AIM.

I can't get these barrel bands off. VERY tight. I don't want to damage the bluing or the perfect wood.

Any suggestions?

I'll leave this one for Shuetzenman, he helped me with my first mauser bolt disassembly. I've got some parts on order to rebuild a bolt, that will give me some more experience. Actually, if you dont want to wait there's a post in GD on AK net, a range report posted by me where Shuetz gives detailed instructons to me on how to disassemble the bolt. If you do a search under Turk Mauser and REDSTAR you'll find it. It's about 6 or 8 months old.
