Well, after months of tossing the idea back and forth I decided to order a MAS 49/56. It was whos2kno's pictures that did it. The last time I saw it I decided I could get one and just not shoot it alot.

SOG has new production Portuguese ammo for the MAS $8.95 per 20.

I decided to order the MAS from Century since SOG get's theirs from Century anyway. They were down to two rifles however, so that has me a bit worried. But..Century takes the rifles back with little questions asked so I feel OK about it overall.

I'm having my CC card bill forwarded to you W2K- it's your fault!!

You too 1 Patriot.

PS- decided to get a $45 MAS 36 while I was at it.

PSS- Amy at SOG was very friendly and helpful. One brownie point for SOG.

PSSS- If you don't hear from me, my wife murdered me.

Glad to hear that you're letting a little culture into your collecting. You will soon develop intense cravings for French Fries, Bon-Bons and Quiche Lorraine. :D Another side effect to exposure to French firearms is an unexplainable compulsion to watch Jerry Lewis movies. Hope you get nice ones. Get yourself a little black beret. It won't make you shoot any better but the chicks at the range will think your HOT:p

Did you get it in the original 7.5 French caliber or the 7.62Nato conversion? I hope you got it in the original caliber.

Good for you Redstar! I too have been feeling the "tug" of the French weapons lately.

BTW unless a viewer is a Century online Customer, they can't see the photo you just posted.

That's why the Century login came up. Forgot about that.

Nice rifle. Shot one Saturday. Love it. Heavy son of a gun though. Absolutely cool with a scope on it.

Get yourself a little black beret. It won't make you shoot any better but the chicks at the range will think your HOT

;) got to get a sniper scope for it too.

You will be happy with both of them, I have really enjoyed mine.
Save the brass and reload for cheaper ammo.

Thanks for the link alpha. I think I'll go that route.

I'll get rid of the photo, it looks artificial anyway.

When you read this whos2know, post that one pic you have that includes the MAS so I can get stoked. :D

You know this will lead to the purchase of a Schmidt-Rubin now that you already have something in the 7.5 ammo.

alfajim,

He's got one. I think that with the MAS purchase, he now has one of every firearm ever made.

There is a way to make the gas system adjustable for making the 308 models shoot more reliable. I will try to locate it if you are interested.

I posted a link to the article about .308 MAS conversions yesterday in the swiss/french forum. It's under 914's post with questions about the MAS. good article. It even has a smiths number who will fix it for you $$$.

THANKS WHOS2KNO! That's what I wanted to see.

Yeah, I'm into two weird and expensive 7.5 calibers now :)

Kim is mine. The lady you mentioned handles most of the C&R people but I got Kim after my other rep quit, I had a relationship with them already before I got my C&R license from ordering off a couple of different FFL's licenses.

Kim's great. I sent her a bunch of pics of my weapons at Christmas. She said 'all the sales reps were very impressed with my collection.' LOL! She said 'they were all passing the pics around admiring all the AK's I have LMAO!!:D

Still haven't got this yet but it shipped on the 30th so I guess I'll have to pick it up Tuesday since I won't be home on the probable first delivery attempt Monday. Ah the waiting. Century Arms needs to hire more people they never used to be like this.

What is the difference between the French and Swiss 7.5?

Schuetzenman
02-04-2002, 07:29 PM
Well lets see, there is a case lenth difference I think the French is shorter and a case diameter difference the Swiss round is quite a bit fatter. Then the shoulders are not at the same place or angle. Without getting out my Cartridges of the World book and quoting the actual numbers that's about it.
