what kinds of C&R military riot style shotguns are available
I have been looking at the mossburg 500's but if I could get something comparable with some history behind it that would be cool

Freebyrd the utimate C&R shotgun, in my opinion is the "trench Broom" M1897 Winchester.
I did a quick search online but could not find a pic of an actual trench broom.
Here is a pic of a regular C&R M1897 Shotgun, the military version had a bayonet lug and a heat shield.

.410 enfields are single shot too....but still interesting
It is my understanding they do NOT accept american made shotgun shells
personally I am interested in LE shotguns from about 1920-1980
while not a C&R my S&W 3000 shotgun I re-did:

Hey I have a folding stock set for you!;) I think there are some .410 Enfields that have been converted to take American shells, but I am not sure.
I read an article on military shotguns a few months ago, Savage, Remington, High Standard, Winchester, Mossberg and others have all been used by the military over the years. Most of them have seen some pretty hard use.
whos2kno,
I don't remember the lengh, 20" is a wild guess, I did a quick search on the web, and came up empty.:(

My wallet says "You just refinished this stock! Why put an synthetic forend and folding stock on it?!?!" It also says "Remember those 3 concert tickets you just bought @ 35 bucks a pop"....damn those girls
The collector in me says "but how cool is a FOLDING stock"

Yes, but you must be specific when ordering from what I hear.
Opinion time:
I want an 1897 Trenchgun. Bad. Would it be sacrilege to buy a full length (from about the right year) and cut the bbl? Of course IMA will supply the HG/bayo lug.

I could go either way in this case. I am kind of a purist and I won't even refinish my weapons but I would never spend the big bucks for a real "trench broom".
Another route to explore is to buy one of those Chinese copies and modify that. I don't know how good they are though, a lot of "cowboy" shooters are starting to use them I think.

Those Chinese Norinco 1897 copies?
Around here they go for $375-395.
A well used real 1897 can be had for $425-475.
I know which way my money'll go!:D

Winchester Model 12's are C&R, many were made for the Military in a trech gun configuration--but you might be able to find one that was made for your local sheriff, police dept., national guard, prison, ect. They have the 20" modified choke barrel. Good luck.
