After 1300 rds I guess it's about time. I was using Wolf 122gn copper jacketed HPs. The bullet went halfway into the chamber and then the tip got stuck on the top of the chamber. It jammed twice and both times there was a dent on the case. I was testing my slant brake when it jammed. Does the brake have anything to do with it?

My SAR-1 jammed a ways back while using some old EG magazines with weak springs. The jams occurred while the last few rounds were trying to feed. I'm told weak mag springs can cause jams. What type of magazine were you using?

I was using a Bulgarian 40rd mags. It had about 12 or 13 shots left. I'll try a different mag today.

I can confirm that about weak springs. Just got done writing a different post about this. I had an older mag with a limp spring. So when the bolt was removing a cartridge from the magazine, there was not enough pressure to hold it firmly agains the lip or guide on the mag. That meant the tip of the cartridge didn't line up with the bore so it would end up almost sideways or stright up and down. It would even try to load a second cartridge with it sometimes. I removed the spring and stretched it a little making it much stiffer. Now when a cartidge is removed from the mag it follows the guide very well and there is a distinct snapping noise once its left the mag. Hasn't failed to feed since. If the spring is really worn you might just want to replace it. I think mine was left fully loaded for long periods of time so the spring was weakened.
