I have been out shooting my Bulgarian SA93 a couple times now and decided to do a thorough cleaning. Sometime after that, I went out shooting and had some problems. I do not know if it is related to something I did when cleaning it as I am rather unexperienced with this type of rifle. The hammer falls but a round is not fired. I eject the round to see that it has a light primer strike. Similar results thereafter. Once in awhile I get a good strike. I've compared both and there is a definate difference so I doubt it's the ammunition. I've taken it back apart and haven't found anything out of the ordinary from what I can tell.

I have only around 500 rounds on the rifle. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.

Did you strip the bolt? If so, make SURE you got the firing pin on the correct side of the pin that holds it in. Just take the bolt out & press on the FP... does it jiggle nicely?

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought first too. I did disassemble the bolt and wondered if I had the FP oriented correctly. So I tried the opposite way but the pin cannot move freely. So, I think I do have it positioned correctly...it's loose and is not hindered in any way in it's travel. It appears to protrude enough to strike the primer fully when I push the FP.

Weird...any other suggestions? I dissasembled and cleaned everything again to double check. I guess I'll have to take it out again sometime to look at it again.

When you cleaned your gun did you take the fire control parts out. If so did you properly replace the disconnector spring.
A missing or misplaced disconnector spring will cause the hammer to not catch and it wil the ride the bolt and carrier down, which will result in a small strike on the primer.
Sometimes the gun will fire and act as if in slow motion with the effect of giving off 2 and even three shots with one pull of the trigger. However this is not quite the case.
Good luck and Happy Holidays
