I posted on the KBI board about a problem with my new SA85M involving the gun firing 2 rounds in succession with one trigger pull. It happened twice, and each time only after the first trigger pull. All the remaining rounds in the mag fired in semi-auto. I talked to a gunsmith and he told me to try cleaning the gun well and then try it, and if it keeps up to let him look at it. Does anyone have any advice or know of why this might be happening? Any help with this will be appreciated.

Check to see if there is a burr in the firing pin hole, keeping the firing pin from retracting.

Check to make sure the firing pin is free to move back and forth. That there isn't a burr or oil/dirt build up inside the bolt in the firing pin hole. Check your ammo as I had this problem in a SKS using Remington primers in my reloads. Remove the receiver cover and look to see that the hammer is being held by the sear when you pull the bolt back. Looking at my Romanian 5.45 rifle the sear engauges about 1/3 of the hammer. Is the disconecters two hooks catching the hammer when you pull the trigger and hold it while you work the bolt?
When you work the bolt while holding the trigger the hammer should push the disconector hooks back and then they should move foreword to catch the hammer. Then release the trigger and the disconector should move back and release the hammer. It should move a little before the sear moves back to catch the hammer and hold it till the trigger is pulled to release the hammer to fly and hit the firing pin.
Work the bolt hard a dozen times to see if the hammer is not caught by the disconector and then by the sear when it is released.

Thanks JA for the reply. I did as you said and had no problems, the sear only catches about a third of the hammer on mine also. I noticed my Norinco MAK 90 The sear has 2 hooks that catch the hammer on both sides, should it be tht way on the SA85M?
