Got a new SLR100H and went to the range fired 500 rounds. Then I came home and kitchen stripped the whole thing down to clean and found the Gas rod pin missing.
I did not notice when the pin flew out and noticed any difference in function
Has anyone experienced this? And was there any stoppage or any other noticeable signals to hold fire when it happened.
I was really impressed with the ability to feed and fire at a high rate with no jams.

Was the pin really missing? Meaning could you see all the way through th hole? The gas pistons on the "Americanized" AKs are kinda spot welded on instead of pinned. On one side you'll see a hole and threads and on the other side, you'll see a smear of metal. I could be wrong though.

A quick repair can be made using an "expansion pin" that can be obtained from an Ace hardware. You will want to cut it to length and slightly bevel one end so it can be forced through the hole on one side of the bolt and through the piston so it catches on the other side of the bolt. You can also put a small amount of "JB Weld" on either end of the pin once it is in place to dress the job and make sure it stays put.

The same thing happened to my SSR-99P. The pin keeping the gas piston from unscrewing came out. On mine it came out far enough to jam the rifle when the bolt was going forward. I replaced it with an expansion pin and haven't been able to take it to the range to test it. Does anyone know what size pin is needed? The only one I could find that seemed to fit is a 5/32 diameter. When screwing the piston rod back into the carrier, how far should it go in? I tightened it up all the way and then backed out one rotation to allow it to wobble. Comparing to my other AKs it looks right. TIA.
