Can you polish a 5.45 chamber without removing the barrel from the receiver?
If so how?
I am having a problems with a SAR 2 extracting rounds. One seems to get stuck every 60-70 rnds. A boot on the charging handle always removes it though. There are no visible signs of any "bulging" areas on the fired case, so I am stumped.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem.
I use WOLF ammo. It runs 100% in my ROMAK II.
Thanks

Well, you can polish the larger part (not the necked down part easily) of the chamber with a felt wheel on a dremeL using jewelers rouge. It has to be done evenly and lightly or you risk eroding a "swell" that will only add to problems. I think you should wait and spend some time finding out why your cases are getting stuck befor you try to fix it. Try different ammo, try it in clean & dry chambers, try it lightly lubed. Look at your cases closely as well as the chamber (use a lupe). Search for any deep scraches or a "ring" in the chamber. You may have headspace problems that will not readily show with steel cases. Take your time.

I polished the chamber on my M1 Garand and a CZ52 rifle of my brothers with excellent results.I used a long wire handled brush and wrapped the bristels with steel wool and put it in a drill and put a plenty of oil on it and polished in & out. This worked great on these two rifles.

Step one: Replace your extractor spring.
