With 500,000 made...do you think price will go up or come down on these?

I guess that would depend on how many make it to America. ;)

Some guys over at www.swissrifles.com think that guns in better condition will start ariving in the spring and the price should be lower. I don't know if that is true so I bought a rifle from AIM about a month ago and can't imagine a rifle in better condition being any cheaper.
Hopefully, more ammo will be imported and maybe that will drive the cost of shooting it down. These rifles are very accurate and fun to shoot. I bought a collectors grade rifle from AIM and highly recomend both the rifle and dealer.

1. I bought one just to have it for my collection. I got it home and let me tell you I love it, solid, well built and reliable. I now own two, A collectors grade and a shooter.
2. The price isnt to prohibitive but it might come down. ;)

Amen!
I paid $280 OTD at a gunshow for mine with 3 boxes of INDEP (yeah, I probably got hosed as a newbie but I friggin LOVE this thing!:D)
Easily 80-90% blue, beech stock without the infamous buttstock discoloration near the buttplate, action like glass...we need a drool smilie.... :drooling: (you mean like this one I just dropped in your post?)
If they hold out until my C&R gets here and wind up cheaper than they are now for the same or better quality? I will be SO SCREWED!:D

awp101,
Sorry for being a wise guy and editing a drooling smilie into your post but I had a weak moment and couldn't resist the gag.
Welcome to the K31 owners club. They are about the neatest design and built rifles in the bolt action world IMO. Yes though it's cliché to say it, they are built like Swiss Watches!
SRV656 and at the moment just me are planning on running a postal match for K31's. Looking for participants, we should start in the spring like April perhaps and run it through October perhaps. Still need to iron out the details and settle on a target.

Well, I just thought that I would drop a picture of mine so that the drooling can continue. I really love the rifle and am glad that I bought one in the collectors condition that AIM had.

Schuetzenman,
I didn't touch the metal, but I did sand some dings out of the stock and stained it using Minwax antique maple. After 2 coats of stain I put 4 coats of Tung oil on it. The rifle didn't really shine much, but I feel that the wood is protected against moisture. The blueing on the rifle is probably 96% or better. Aim really sent me a nice one, my only gripe is that it didn't come with one of those cool muzzle caps. Took it out shooting for fun with some FMP ammo and it was keeping some great groupings. Can't wait to shoot some GP11 in it next week.

scottsw1,
I was referencing the stock. The bluing on most of these is 95% but the stocks are another matter. The color looks about right for them. Tung oil . . . . good choice. The original finishes look like tung oil but many coats of it. Finishes are semiglossy to glossy.
I stood in a Museum in Solothurn Switzerland last year and there must have been a couple hundred Schmidt Ruben rifles there from the first 1889 types to the last K31/55 snipers. Those things are very cool looking. Any way my point is that I've seen a lot of original rifles in pretty good condition so I know what they should look like. The color showing on your pics is middle of the road and typical. Looks like you picked a good stain.
Congrats, she's a beauty!:D
