I think deal a meal posted this, maybe he found out something.

I'm thinking I'd like one of those Mannlicher carbines but not if I can't get at least 200 rounds of ammo for it...

Any leads for a Mannlicher newbie??

Thanks in advance, what a great site this is. :)

Just got the 2002 Shooters Catalog and it has 8x56R ammo.

Excerpts from description:

Dated: 1938
Manufatured in Austria.
The base of each 8mm round displays the year, VIII in Roman numerals and a Nazi eagle proofmark. The Berdan-primed, brass cased, corrosive Ammo packs a 205-gr. boat tail tip and a hollow base. A steel clip feed device(included) holds five rounds. Two 5rd clips are packed in each 10rnd box.

Ask them if they will sell less than 500rds. I just hate to add that much for this one rifle as I don't see acquiring any others in this caliber any time soon. Have to see what the one I ordered looks and shoots like. I checked at the gunshow Sunday and only found one box of 8x56r, without the clips for $31.50 for 20rds.;puke:

Too rich for my blood with so many others purchases to be made.

Richard, the place you posted will sell 500 rounds for 4150 shipped.

I don't want to get in this heavy this month as I've already got alot of stuff for the month. I think I'll pass until next month.

I tried sportsmans' but they had me on hold for 20 mins and I hung up.

I'm bettin he meant 200rds which is the better deal especially with shipping. Century has the M95 & M95/34 for $62 and change shipped.

No I was talking about LC- the price for 500 rounds shipped is $150.

The 4 was supposed to be a $ they are on the same key.

I'll see how my 95/34 looks and then I'll probably go with the 200rds from Sportsman.

After shooting my M95 for the first time, I bought 300 rounds for it from LC. That's probably all I will ever shoot in my entire life. This little rifle KICKS ass ( yours hahahaha )!!!!!!!!!!

I have a pretty big collection of Hungarian rifles of the second world war, and with the exception of the 35m Huzagolt Rifled Mannlicher in 8x56R they arent that great of guns for the battle field, in different wheather conditions they are horrible, i have about 12 rifles in all, and one SMG [ Danuvian 43m hungarian Paratrooper SMG, which has been taken apart so that the Government can't harrass me} in my Hungarian WWII vintage collection, and some inert hand grenades, a full infantry officers uniform and cap, and helmet, and other various small items, i dont know how they compare to anything else except the mauser k98, which all except the 35 m with Huzagolt rifling are inferior too, the 35 m with the huzagolt rifling surpases the k98 in every way. So look for a gun with Huzagolt rifling before you buy it, incredibly accurate.
