AIM $39. boy, is this thing pretty junky :( . the stock has many cracks and i have NEVER seen a stock look so "plain". the front sight is junk. bent cleaning rod that is rusted into the stock  , its soaking in clp now. i'm still cleaning the bore, but it looks shootable. it came with a bayo & scaboard.
i'm still working on it, but so far a waist of money.
can i shoot surplus ammo in this thing ?
i'm not having much luck at this C&R thing :(

only one view from when i started this post
anyway
i cleaned it up a lot, though not all the way, that would take another day
but it looks a lot better now. i'm only bummed about the cracked stock and broken front sight.
i will quit talking to myself now :D

Sorry, I have been busy today......
Did you order the VG Turk too now that is $59 well spent!
You can shoot surplus Turk ammo in it, it comes in 70 rd Bandoleers in stripper clips for about $5.

If you want to get a nicer one, try Century.

Yes Jes,
The better grade ($60) ones are quite a bit better. They usually look like rearsenaled or brand new rifles. I've got one dated 54 and the bluing is nearly 100%. Stock though rough as a cob is a nice piece of walnut that has some fiddle back stripes in it. Looks like the stock has been varnished. If the stock was sanded out smooth and the file marks removed  then sealed with tung oil, this sucker would be awesome!
Consider that the $39 Turk is a large ring Mauser Action if nothing else. You can't buy a Mauser bolt action for less than about $300 so consider the possibility of it being the nucleus of a new sporting or sniper rifle. :D

well i wish i would have know about this sooner. it is century that has these like new ones ? it sucks i paid $39 for this one when i could have thrown in another 20 and got a nice one :(
oh well, maybe i can sell it at a show
got brains ? = not this time  :D
Just remember that if it shoots like crap you can always rebarrel it. Large ring Mauser actions can be rebarreled to handle an extremly wide variety of calibers. I've read articles where people have converted a large ring to 416 Rigby.
I bought one of those $39 dollar one's from AIM and it was junk. So, my current plan is to rebarrel mine in 7mm Mauser. Reese Surplus has 7mm Mauser barrel's for around $35 dollars. www.reesesurplus.com
