Not really my field but it could be worth between $600 and $900. Anybody got a Blue Book of Gun Value book? Being a moderator on some of these forums now, I guess I need to make an investment in one of these books.

I got a price guide here, looks like maybe 400 to $500. This book was printed in 1994. Calibers 25-35,30-30,32special,32-40,38-55. 4 to 7 shot tube mag. 22" or 26" round, octagon or half octagon barrel. straight stock and forearm, saddle ring on some models. made from 1894 to late 1930's.

the Winchester Model 94 Trails End lists for $445

the Winchester Model 94 Legacy lists for $457.

the Winchester Model 94 Ranger goes for $355.

the Winchester Model 94 Ranger Compact goes for $378.

THIS INFORMATION IS FROM " GUN DIGEST 2002"

So, looks like we have several more models than I've listed, and nothing is talking about 100 years old. All these rifles appear to be new issues.

So, Cruffler's? How do you put a price tag on something that's 100 years old? Or more???

Scheutzenman, I need a book that addresses all this too. Your recommendations are much appreciated.

The price guide I have lists the newer model 94's at about $200 to $300. It lists the 100 year old or so run of the mill 94's at $400 to $500, but model 94 carbines of that vintage at $600 to $700, but like I said, this book is 8 years old. I know that Colt for instance can research any indivdual firearm for its provinence and history, maybe something similar available for old winchesters, could add a lot of value to it if it was owned by someone in particular or is unusual for some reason that is not readily apparent on the firearm.

Well, Czar, you got some research to back your offer. 100 year old rifle is priceless in my book anyway. Get it.

I'll try to get it if I can... I first heard about it when he said he was going to trade one of his rifles to his dentist for $180 worth of dental work... I told him to stall if he could so I'm going to have to wrangle to get it... wheels are already in motion

its a 30-30

Czar:

Winchester is one of my hobbies--let's see if I can help. First off, it's a pre 64, Winchester collectors (like me) kind of like that. If you are right and it's 100 years old--that makes it an antique (pre 148,000 serial number). With an antique 94 you add 20%. Since you're not a collector, I'm not real sure of its condition. Lets say 60% which is pretty good for an antique. The Blue Book of Gun Values says $725.00 plus antique $145.00 equals $870.00. If it is a takedown add/or deluxe add another 20% to the base.

Having said all that, if you to try to sell to a collector your probably going to get more like $500.00. After all the Winchester 94 has the distinction of being the world's most popular rifle and as such there are whole lot of them to choose from.

If you can get it for $180.00 jump on it fast--and never admit to seeing this post.
