I can answer a few questions Zouave,

About your gun misfiring.I had this same problem on my M48A.The bolt was filled with cosmoline,I mean stuffed with it.Try taking the bolt apart and cleaning it inside and out then apply a little oil and assemble it.Try firing it then.Im almost certain it will be fine.Mine was doing the same thing, light indention on primer and would take 2-3 strikes to fire. The above remedy solved it.;)
As far as identifying your rifle it may very well be a captured nazi rifle and the waffen marks were probably removed by the communists.I know tha the Germans did take over the factory producing the VZ-24's after occupation and its sounds to me you got one of these rifles. In any event the rifle sure looks beautiful for a Vz-24!Very nice!

Thanks, AKWARRIOR

It is a really beautiful rifle. The gun just drips with old world quality. I bought it from AIM last fall for $89. I should have gotten two.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Zouave i had the same problem with a 6.5 carcano.I was out hunting and had a nice broad side shot at a deer.I pulled the trigger, click, tried again click, deer said see ya later.I took the rifle inside for 15 minutes to let it warm up.Opened up the basement window and shot it out the window. So know i know it was a dirty bolt because the heat loosened up the grease.
I cleaned up the bolt and never had any more problem's.Never seen that damn deer again either. But i still shot squirrel's out the house window with it.:D
