This is my yugo k98, no work done to her at all yet. Notice it has the wrong bolt with it. I'm still waiting on my bolt parts to make the correct turned down bolt for it.

The laminate has really nice shades of red in it; it's going to look great when I clean it up. the bore on this rifle is fantastic, should be a really good shooter. No cleaning rod! Ill pick one up from CDNN next time I order something from them.

here it is. it looks like an all black backround is not the best either.
it doesn't have the sheen as seen here, but it does have some.
i'm may put some tung oil on it to get it to look that way, but since i have not used this stuff yet i don't know if i will or not. i need to practice with it yet. i redid the bolt handle, cdnn bubbaized it   . so i sanded it to look factory as best it could, which is pretty good. polished it, then cold blued it.

It's got a VZ24 bolt in it. Came that way from Century. $89.

It's a Yugo bolt, just not the right one for this rifle in terms of the turned down handle.

Yours is sweet, very nice rifle.

Nice looking 98s guys!
I got a question for you.My 98 has a flat butt plate and no hole thru the stock, the numbers match, any ideas why?

Do you mean you don't have the cupped skull crusher buttplate? The flat bupplate is a sign of it being made early in the 30's. Why it doesn't have the diassembly bushing I'm not sure. I've got one with real nice walnut stock on it. It could be a replacement stock, but I wonder why they would go to the effort of inletting the older flat buttplate than just rout the stock for the cupped buttplate of the war years.

They went to the cupped buttplate to streamline mfg. to a small extent but ultimately it was to strengthen the stock so it wouldn't be prone to splitting. You know smashing in heads all day is tough on a stock! LOL!:D

I don't get it either.
I noticed something else today, near the muzzle its stamped ( german 8 mm ) exactly like my K98k.

The German 8 mm stamp is something the importer is putting on IMO.
