1. My wifes uncle lives in Germany. He sent this to me and I got it today from my Mother-in-Law at Church. Apparently he got it from his father after the war, It is dated 1933 for a Motorized Stormtrooper brigade. You can see the motorized trooper and the 1933 (Hitlers year he took over as Chancellor of the Reich) stamped on it with the stormtrooper writings on it.
2. It was in a frog and I didnt even notice the emblum until I took it out to clean it. I had asked him to get me a bayonet for my 98K when I first got it. WHAT A FIND.:D

JESUS,
Please take care of that!Put it under glass or somthing. It looks to me to be a pre-war SA(Brown Shirts) paramilitary motorcycle training division. Most of the guys in these units would go on to spearhead Rommels attack into france as lead recon units made up of primarily motorcycle infantry. They also established quite a record doing recon in the afrika corps. The primary means of transportation for them was the BMW R75.I can tell you that this was not intended for field use with a shield on it such as that.It was intended for parades and cerimonial purposes.Originally it is a common Mauser bayonet but it has been modified and was not intended or to be used as a bayonet on a rifle. This has been made into a dagger and has had the ring milled off.I collect this stuff.I have 3 Germanhelmets each worth about 3-400.00.1 of them still has the laquered SS runes not the reproduction stick ons.I also have my grandfathers SS dagger,M43 black Panzer field cap and medals. My other older brother keeps his uniforms. He served with 2nd SS panzer Division (DAS REICH)as a tank commander. He saw it all and I have his war diaries that he kept while fighting the russians and the americans on the Eastern and Western fronts.Hold on to what you have.never get rid of it.I will pass on mine to my son or daughter when I have kids.A word of advice.Dont use any strong solvents or chemicals too clean this. You could easily ruin the markings and finish. The way you recieved it is the way it should remain.

If you can translate his diaries, I would be interested in some of the stories in there. It might make a good post. Please, give it some thought.
