So it's really a Springfield mfg. O3A3? What's the barrel date, how many grooves? Any cartouches on the stock uder the bolt release? What's the muzzle condition like? Have you had it headspaced?

Oh, and nice shoepacks, L&L Bean I presume! ;)

Sorry for the late response. I need to make a correction. The above photo is a Smith-Corona with a barrel date of 9/43. Markings under the bolt looks like FJA and the Arsenal mark. Bore is shiney with no muzzle damage. No signs of excessive headspace.

Smith Corrona . . . my favorite! Is it an H.S. stamped barrel? If so that's High Standard the target pistol makers. I think my Smith Corrona also has a 43 dated barrel. It's stock is stamped OGEK not in a box which is supposed to be Ogden Utah arsenal and Elmer Keith as the inspector. Yep that Elmer Keith of .44 mag pistol fame.

Skip exactly what is the tax state? Are you referring to Taxachussetts?
