View Full Version : Inland M1 Carbine
I obtained this from an USAF Officer who said he purchased it from the Omaha Police Department.

Damn Skip you have some really nice rifles in your collection! Does the Inland have the flat bolt or the round M2 type?

Round M2 type. How do you like that unopened 1944 spam can?

I like it, I like it! You know that ammo is noncorrosive. All US Military carbine ammo has always been noncorrosive.
Being repacked in 1944 I thought the spam can was worth something but a friend stated not much more that todays ammo prices.

I don't know about that as in not worth that much more. Hang on to it and don't open it. There are only so many ever made and as others use them up, collectors of US militaria will be willing to pay handsomely for it.

Gives me a woody!!! I just got a "parts" gun....Stupid question of the day....I bought a couple bandolleers(These things look real cheezy) with 10 round stripper clips and ammo.....Since the mags are 15 round why 10 round strippers???And it doesn't appear to me that there is any provision on the reciever/bolt to use the strippers!!! Or is there some adaptor to strip them directly into a mag???
Thanks.
I think the stripper clips were used for the 30 round mags after WWII. The 15 rounders were were loaded from the 50 round cardboard boxes during WWII. The real stripper clips have the mag loading adapter built in the stripper clip. I have seem some .30 Carbine stripper clips loaded without the adapter. I think this is false representation because they appear to be loaded on M-16 clips.

I don't know Skip, I've seen the .30 carbine stripper guides and they didn't look like an M16 guide. Perhaps they did go to the M16 strippers in Vietnam era. Not up on carbines as well as I am on other weapons. I haven't seen a spoon and stripper combined if that's what you are describing.

I would post a photo of it if I could. The M16 and M1 stripper guides are not interchangable. The M-16 guide is wider.

Now that we have photo shop back I have posted both stripper guides. The M-16 guide is separate where the carbine stripper and guide are a single unit.

Nice photo post Skip. Since I last looked at this post I finally saw a .30 carbine stripper and spoon combo at a gun show. I'm surprised they made them like that given the size and complexity to fold all that metal into a single part.
