Damn Skippy you seem to have every rifle in your collection that I have or have had! LoL! Does it have the ordnance wheel and cannons cartouche on the stock?

Here's mine.
It has the marks but the stock is not in the best condition. Pretty chewed up.

$3500 is a price that is just a bit high or not depending on the condition and does it have an original type scope mounted on it. Most A4's start at $2,000 and go on up from there.

Unbelievable. I got this from a Pentagon civilian one week before I retired in 1997. I paid $300. Something wrong.

What's the matter Skip . . . can't believe you got a $2500 dollar rifle for $300 bucks. Wow what a steal!
I need to make some calls/research. These prices can't be correct.

I stand corrected. My first search turned up $1700-2400.

a lot of money for a rifle you have to work the bolt to shoot.....to me buying a bolt action rifle, is like buying a car with a manual transmission....if your going to spend thousands of dollars for a car....the transmission should be doing all the work, not you.

sfc ret,
The A4's aren't priced on ability they are priced on how rare they are balanced against demand interest in the US Military arms collecting community.
I paid CMP $660 for my A4 and frankly I was disappointed in it and how it shot. But still I'm sure I could hussel it for $2500 in and eyeblink on the right web site or gun show.

To the contrary. I like bolt guns because I don't like to wait a round for the gases to operate the action.

Hey That is a sweet A4 You have there !
Out here in the Great Pacific North Wet any 03A4s as nice as yours goes for at least 2 Grand minimum. With papers more than 3 Grand.
I just traded one of my Garand "D" models to a friend for a 03A4 with everything correct includind M73B1 scope and mounts, and I know how happy you must be !
I was thrilled to add one to my collection of mostly Garands and 1941 Johnson automatics.
Take care and congratulations on your nice 03A4, Milt

Back to You,Thanks for the welcome to this great websight.
My son in law Big Tuna told me about your group and I like it a lot even though I haven't much time as I still work full time and I am a District Commander for the V.F.W. here in Oregon.
I normally was a Garand nut exclusively until late but then
I just happen to look at a Johnson on auction arms a couple of years ago ,and being a former Jar Head I wanted one,so I bid and got it for $2,600.
After the buyer shock I sold a couple of my Garands and paid it off. Since then I have aquired 2 more and quite a few parts, bolts and guts like trigger assys etc.You know" just in case " I need them down the road.
I was hoping that I could out shoot my garands with the Johnsons so I could use one in a military match. But alas as the barrel moves alot and the sights are not as tight as a garand they don't group as tight.
However they kick half as hard and are fun to shoot, and you can add a charger of 5 rounds in a blink of an eye or 1 round to 10 rounds so it would make a match at the range easier,so I may shoot one just to show people what they can do.
I may sell one to pay for a M1 "C" that I just got from the CMP ,but I have been paying on my plastic and gritting my teeth thinking the Johnsons will only get harder to get as you say later.
The latest one I got was I think was a MillTech, with a Nice Fajen type repro stock and Everything including the stock parkerized.
I thought it looked great until checking out the proper configuration of the origional.
Then I realized that the guts,Bolt Connector link etc.etc. were not supposed to be parkerized as milltech likes to do so I replaced all of the guts to origional with some of the N.O.S. parts that I have.
When Big Tuna gets over here to show me how to post pictures on your websight I will do so. I have a different format (jpeg) and a couple of others, or I would have sent them already.
I took a picture of 12 of my garands in stack arms and my .50 BMG a couple of daysago to post,so I will do so when I get them figured out.
Good Job on Your mentioning of Jerry Kunhousins book as he is a pretty good source on application of work on the military weapons, but I use Harrisons book on collecting to match up parts when I restore a garand to origional configuration.
Speaking of which I f you ever need a particular part send me a private email as I have over 50 gas cylinders and trigger assemblies etc. for lots of years, but most of my friends have already begged my WRA parts down to a few dozen so they are more limited.
I thank you again for the welcome to the net, and I hope to check in whenever I can. Off to work ,Semper Fi, Milt:D

Uncle Milt,
The easiest way to post a picture is to click on the Attach file: Maximum size: 200000 bytes feature. There is a Browse button you click. This will let you search your hard drive for the file. It will use gif, jpg, png, bmp or jpeg formats so you should be ok.
The only problem with this technique of picture posting is that it only puts up one at a time on a posting. So if you have three photos to put up you'll have to make 3 posts. You also have to inclued some dialogue in the reply box where we type. But that's ok because you'll need to say what the picute is anyway.
BTW the test image I'm putting here is of a Schmidt-Ruben K31/55 Sniper rifle I'm bring into the US.

Ahhhhhhhhh SOOOOOOOOO ! Thank's alot Schuetzenman , for the tutorial on posting a photo , as I am not a computer geek .
A Garand geek Maybe, but not computers ! So thanks ALOT for the pointers !
So thats how You do it ! Gosh I 'll Bet even I can do it ,but after trying to post a picture , I found that My pictures have too much size !
So I may have to start over with new ones and make sure that they are formatted smaller rather than in Panavision Wide Screen that would be a novel idea wouldn't it ;) .
Again thank's much for the " pointers to the new guy " ,and standby to standby.
P.S. Thanks for the eyeball of Another one of Your sweet rifles, nice find ! congratulations !
Regards , Uncle Milt
