I plan on purchasing a Yugo m48. This is advertised in SGN as 8mm. I know in 1905 the German military increased the bore diameter from .318 (the J bore) to .323 (the JS bore). If you shoot a JS cartridge in a J bore serious injury could result. I read that the SAAMI's solution was to load all American manufactured 8mm to 35000 psi. This would give a muzzle velocity of a 200gr bullet about 2000fps and a .323 bullet could be safely shot in a .318 bore. However, European JS cartridges (200gr) are loaded to 58000. My questions to this forum is what is the bore diameter of the yugo (is it J or JS)? What are some pet handloads used, and what surplus ammo do you use? Has any one shot 8mm .323 diameter 200gr @ velocity 2500fps. Lastly, what was the 8mm military loading (bullet weight and velocity).
Time to watch the State of the Union. Love GB 2.
Thanks

Yugo's are chambered for he modern high pressure round. Std. Yugoslav 8 mm ammunition has a .323 bullet of 198 grs. at about 2550 to 2600 fps.

Check out my post to Thors Hammer on the commission 88 rifle. I go over the old vs. the new 8 mm bores and cartridges there. It's in the German Mauser forum at the top of this page. :D

Oh, and welcome to the forums. Stick around and participate, there's a great bunch of regulars here.

Thanks, there's a lot of information and advice in this forum. I'm awaiting my C&R license, I especially like the posted evaluations of C&R distributors.:)
