I want one of these rifles so bad I can taste it.
Who has them?
What is an average price for one in "excellent" condition?
I have seen a few at the local gun shop around 350.00. I thought it was ugly when I first saw it, but it has grown on me. Thanks in advance.

SOG has them for $239 plus $10 shipping, excellent condition with all the accessories.

Does SOG have a web site?
Does I/O have a site? CAI?
Thanks.

I have one and I really enjoy shooting it. I bought a orignal sniper scope for it and it looks really cool. If you don't get one in 7.5 french it most likley will need to have the gas port modified so that it is adjustable for it to run properly.

Got several French rifles and love them all. Got my 49/56 from SOG last year during their sale for $210+shipping with all accessories. It was rearsenaled twice and is very nice in appearance and function. Came with all accessories. Once you get one French firearm you'll wnat them all. MAS 36, 36/51, 44, 49, 49/56. After that you can check out the earlier stuff in 8mm Lebel. The only drawback to these is ammo cost. Reloadable ammo can be had for .50 per round delivered and reloaded for around .25 per round. Not the cheapest but the firearms themselves kind of offset that by being somewhat inexpensive at the moment. The 49/56 was selling for big bucks in the not to distant past. Good round, great rifle, chicks dig'em ;) I say go for it just be ready to adopt the whole clan.

I'm sending in for my CRFFL next week, payday. I don't know if I can hold out that long. 6-8 weeks is a long time. I might have to have it shipped to my old man. I hope I can hold out. I want it to come to my door. That would be tits. I'll let you know when I get it. I CAN TASTE IT!!!!!!

45 days. Isn't that just about the norm. I was told 6-8 weeks. Less if you're lucky. My luck isn't that good. That's alright. I have to find someone to buy my amp first. Trade one hobby for another. I never could play that well. I shoot a heck of a lot better than I ever played guitar. Throwing lead is much more gratifying.
Anyone want to buy guitar amp? Never fired. Still packed in the cosmoline.

Well, Neil, may I call you Neil? You've got some pretty good luck from what I've seen. That is one SWEET MAS 49/56 you have there. That's something to be proud of. DAMN!! Can I rub your head? I could use some of that good luck. If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
BTW.....
My name is Mark.

Got my 49/56 from Century and it was graded excellent, the price was around $249.
I thought it was a new gun. I ran some solvent soaked patches through the barrel and they came out almost black, a few minutes of scrubbing and it is mirror.
I'm glad I ordered it.
It's a strange gun that I suppose only a mother could love, but it's growing on me.
It's so weird, that so far I haven't been able to figure out how to disassemble it.
Oh well cancel that -I just pulled it outta the closet and looked it over carefully and found that little doo hickey on the back of the receiver ,kinda like an AK, now it's laying out here in pieces, like a gut shot groundhog.
Getting it back together was a bit of a challenge until I left the recoil spring out, that way, it was easy to see how everything fit in place.

I'm picking mine up tomorrow at the gun show in Allentown. The rifle and 400 rd ammo. Woo Hoo. I can't wait. I tried to wait till my CRFFL came, but I can't. My wife says that I am the most inpatiant (Sp?) person she knows. Worse than my son. Oh well. I WANT IT NOW!!
